hopena will be back soon ~ I didn't mean to miss the birthdays on my list
She’s been coughing, and recently had a problem with her left eye (that may be clearing itself up).
Over a week ago, I ordered her in a popular dehydrated commercial food, even though I couldn’t really afford to. She’s so picky, that I was hoping she might not have a problem with this food (after I’d remembered reading testimonials for the company’s other products, claiming that dogs loved them, and would get excited waiting for them to finish dehydrating). Maybe it’s just that it’s their newest formula, but Dora didn’t go crazy over it, and neither did the others; even Bertie – nicknamed Kirby, after the vacuum cleaner – wasn’t sure about it at first… Walter ate a little bit off my fingers, but wouldn’t take any out of the bowl, and Emily and Rita wouldn’t try it at all. I’ll try them with it again later on, adding in a little ground meat, and see if that helps. My dogs hardly ever go crazy for things that others do. :/
(This picture of Dora was taken about eight or nine years ago. That elephant goes everywhere with her. :) )

He’s had a weird problem with a claw on his front-right paw – the thing is massive. It started out looking like two claws had somehow fused together (what with the size of it, which wasn’t that big at the time). Since Spot was put to sleep, it’s grown significantly, looking like something conjured up by Stephen King.
The vet says it’s quite a common occurrence, but I’ve googled and haven’t come up with anything resembling it.

I only backslid a bit, because of my own health going downhill (there’s still a little voice in the back of my head, saying “That’s no excuse!”). I just can’t get my head around Spot having that tumour, and how big it was (let alone that back injury; we gave him green-lipped mussel for quite a while, due to his hurting his foot, so that probably helped his back, as well).
I’m going to work on the little that needs improvement, but I suppose, no matter what you do, it’s all a crap-shoot in the end. There’s no guarantee that he would have survived treatment for that tumour, although we would have done our best for him.

My hamster died on Saturday. I feel really guilty because I didn’t give her the attention and care that she deserved.
My dog is 14 years old and I don’t know how much time I have left with him. He doesn’t ask for much in return for being my best friend since before I can remember, but he deserves more than I give him. When he dies I want to be sure that he was as happy as he could have possibly been.

i have a lonely little chinchilla who rarely wins my attention.
i feel horrible about it, but there just doesn’t seem to be time to sit and play with a pet.
i solemnly swear that i will return the love my animal gives to me.

I want to start walking with my dog everyday and playing with her outdoors much more. I take care of her, give her affection, and play with her in the kitchen more often, but being outdoors, not enough. She shouldn’t have to nap all day long in boredom while I escape to the computer all day and waste so much precious time. =/

He is making this goal very hard. I think I need the dog whisperer before I can start to accomplish this or I go crazy. One of the two.

Well, he got to keep his actual fangs, but the rest of his teeth were taken out. The chicken wings just weren’t working and I could never hold him down for long enough to brush them with cat toothpaste.
Now his breath is much less smelly.
But he still bites all of the time – the little freak. Perhaps I should have gotten the fangs taken out too? Remove the last of his weapons (although he’d have to be declawed as well). I am sure he’d still try to bite with his gums. I wouldn’t miss his scratches though – I am terribly allergic to them and he’s such a clumsy, reckless little bastard, he’s always giving me little ones – not to mention when I have to give him the anti-biotics – that has been a torturous process.
He seems to be recovering well though and is back to eating his usual foods just fine.
Now I just have to brush him more. The crazy fluffy monster.
