germander The Turkey Trot was FUN!

Not sure why exactly 3 weeks ago

I wrote the first day and took a small stab at it yesterday, but my heart just is NOT in this, and I am not sure why.

Most of my energy right now is going to running, figuring out food menus and the budget that goes with that, and in getting out and about to meet people in my new town.

So I feel a little bit bad that I’ve let this go already, but only a little bit.

I woke up so early, and it’s daylight savings… I think I can go back to bed now.

    Hooray, it’s started!

An idea is brewing! 2 months ago

One of my Word of the Day picks jumped out at me and sparked a creative fire; if all goes well, it will be the story I write this NaNo season. I am going to keep stewing over the idea, trying to flesh out the landscape and hopefully create a loose plot to hang it on. Methinks plot is a problem, but maybe I need to buy the book, kwim?

Whoop! for 2009 5 months ago

It’s late June, so maybe I’ll start playing with ideas now and getting warmed up. I finished in 2007 but not 2008 – that had started sounding like a YA novel, which threw me off – plus I just sort of pooped out. This year, I want a cohesive story that I can actually edit once November is over.

This is the fifth year for me. I didn’t make it the first year, but have managed the past four years. Definitely worth it. Now I just have to keep the momentum going and get back to work on other drafts! Big Congo Rats to all the other NaNoWriMo participants, whether you finished or not, you’ve done more than 99% of the world just by picking up the pen and trying!

NaNoWriMo #4 is behind me, but the writing is just beginning. 2 years ago

The novel isn’t really ‘finished.’ I submitted what I had written, to the tune of 50,075 words this afternoon at 4:30 PM, but while the novel is done for the purposes of NaNo, there’s still a LOT more to write before the first draft is complete. Then there is the matter of edit’s and rewrites – hmmm – next up, two short stories and then back to editing the 80K word novel that grew out of last year’s NaNo writing. Sigh – anyone want to start a writing group?
