Helping where I can 3 months ago

Went down to visit The Rainbow Centre (my local charity) and they do an amazing job for kids with Cerebral Palsy so wanted to get involved somehow. First off I attended their Summer Ball last weekend with a group of friends/colleagues plus I’ve just set up a monthly donation, it’s not a lot but as Tesco says “every little helps”! Gonna keep supporting where I can and try and do more for others in general… if you’d like to know more or even donate yourselves visit http://www.rainbowcentre.org/rainbowcentre.asp

Life changing 5 months ago

Think you get to a time in your life when you stop putting yourself first and realise you’ve got to start giving something back. I now know the head of a charity near me so I’m going to visit this week and see how I can help out.

Helping Others 6 months ago

My father recently passed away and it brought to light a few things…1) There aren’t enough Macmillan Nurses for the unfortunately growing need in the UK…2) Someone should do something about this!

Everyone should do their bit for charity. And if you think ‘why should I?!’ just imagine how you would feel in that situation without any help…

Need a lil bitta assistance... 8 months ago

Been searching online for Global Volunteering programs. Kind of discouraging that there is so much red tape involved in just volunteering. If anyone knows of any great programs, do tell. cheers.

woo, i’d like to think i’ve kinda done this. anything i don’t need/want/have grown out of, i don’t sell or throw away, but give to local charities, and every christmas i take part in the xmas box appeal – where you fill shoeboxes with presents for children in third world countries. i also buy quite a lot from charity shops, and have taken part in world aids day and children in need etc. however, there’s TONNES more i could do, and i definitely would love to go to ethiopia or other places later in life and either teach, donate money, or generally just do anything i can to help. if i ever become rich, i would seriously donate a hell of a lot to those starving. it’s not right in the world to have such a big rich-poor divide. on the one hand you’ve got people living in the same conditions as those who were subjected to terror in concentration camps, and contrasting with that are millionaires and celebrities who spend their money on ridiculous things..just objects..nothing deeper, nothing more. it’s wrong. it annoys me when celebrities like Angelina Jolie are dubbed “the new Mother Teresa” for donating to charity. yeah, it is a good thing to do that, but if she was TRULY caring surely she would donate about 2/3 of her money? when donating her big pay checks, we forget that she’s still earning a ridiculous amount which enables her to live the life of luxury, whilst still being admired for “doing the world good”. i must remember to do the box thing this year, i want to do a lot of them, i might organise something. meh. i got bored and painted my walls. ^

auction 11 months ago

I’m in a charity committee at work where we raise money for selected charities. at the moment i’m in the middle of organising a celebrity auction, i actually love it.
sending out letters to numerous stars asking them to send me photos, cd’s etc. every other day i’m getting packages sent to me at work.
this week i got photos from the yummy wentworth miller and jim carrey. Not only does it brighten up my day, but it’ll make quite a bit of money for our charities, double bonus
