but I think I would love to work at Starbucks! I feel like you have to be a certain type of person to work there and I’m not sure that is me. I am going to work at my job until I get to two years and apply at every Starbucks I can find!
How to work at Starbucks
How I did it: I went to ALL the Starbucks in my area, and I mean ALL....made friendly with the Baristas and even some of the managers, and submitted applications to them. I even made sure to come in to the stores alot with friends and demonstrate my knowledge and love of coffee and my friendliness. Nothing happened. Then, a new store opened right down the street from both my school and apt....and I went in and put in my application. One of the mgrs. from one fo the other stores recognized my name, and three weeks later, hired me for the new store!!! It's been a little over a month, and though it's definitely different than what I expected, it's a blast, and I loooove it. :)
Lessons & tips: You have to have a love for coffee and people, and be passionate about your job. You can't be one of those people who just want an average job where you do average work...just show up and do whatever you're told to do and then go home and collect your paycheck every two weeks. Working at Starbucks is soooo much more than that. If you want it, it's there...just learn about coffee, work on your people skills, apply, and visit the store, remember the Baristas names as well as the managers, and follow up after you've submitted your app. Oh - and it helps if you have pretty open availability to work...but if not, don't be discouraged...sometimes they only need people for a few hours here and there. :)

the longer i own my own coffee shop, the less i want to do this. and the curiosity no longer kills me since i have so many friends who work there. plus, i hate their espresso.

I’m at my desk right now. The boss stepped out so I’m taking a little time to myself to contemplate whether giving up this $9.80/hour job would be worth making your coffee for what I’m assuming is minimum wage. This job provides no health benefits, however it is an on campus job and provides a vast array of resources that can be applied to my academics, which of course is a good thing. I hear that Starbucks has excellent health benefits though.
Anyone out there want to shed some light on this?

I work 3 jobs… 3
I’m also a full-time student. I figured my wallet would be stuffed doing on campus jobs. For some reason however, I spontaneously got the urge to work at a Starbucks. Recently I’ve been browsing the internet, favoriting anything and everything dealing with the coffee giant.
Where did these urges come from? Could it be from the fact that two of my roommates are baristas (at different cafes)? Or the fact that my oldest brother is the manager for a Starbucks location in San Francisco?
I don’t know. I don’t even like coffee. I love the smell, but when it touches my lips, it’s like drinking hot dirt. I’m curious about this urge though.. and whether or not I should pursue it..
While I ponder this, I’ll just pretend that the job application in my desk doesn’t exist for now.

It was fun, the company treated their employees well (10 yrs ago this was), and at the time, I was paid a good wage. I worked there for about 2 yrs, loved running the bar (when no one else did!) – and learned some fancy bar tricks (like flipping syrup bottles and spinning cups) which always earned us good tips. Solid job possiblity.
I’ve been working at Starbucks for 3 weeks. It’s hard work but the benefits/perks are good. Some people love it and some hate it, so it’s hard to advise others.
