Looks like things are calming down. Regardless, I’m impressed by the unity that came out of the whole thing from all of Protestant Christians that rose up to support their Roman Catholic brothers and sisters in Christ.
People doing this are also doing these things:

I just finished reading a transcript of the Pope’s talk which I’d have to say is very good and to claim that its anti Islam is to prove that you have failed to understand it. If you haven’t already done so I’d recommend reading it here http://www.chiesa.espressonline.it/dettaglio.jsp?id=83303&eng=y to see for yourself what started everything.
in our country. But, apparently that only applies to you if you’re saying things that are bad about the US.
If you’re saying something that might rub a Muslim the wrong way then OH GOD you’d better watch out for the media attacks!
How messed up is this world when people like Hugo Chavez and foolish Hollywood elitists can slew countless inappropriate remarks about our president, our country, and our way of life and be welcomed with open arms, cheering, and standing ovations? Yet our Pope utters one statement, which doesn’t even necessarily reflect his beliefs (as it was part of a reading he was doing) and it is totally twisted and blown out of proportion, even after his attempt to explain!
There are certain people who just love to defend terrorists and their way of thinking. Would it be acceptable for ANY other people to react with threats of death to the Pope? I mean, come on, you don’t see President Bush giving death threats for all the things that have been said to him! You don’t see Catholics retaliating saying death to Muslims as they threaten our Pope!
That’s because the whole idea of it is so barbaric. Anyone, making those kinds of statements is nothing more than a terrorist or terrorist sympathizer, IMHO. There is a difference in expressing your opinion in an appropriate manner and slewing death threats left and right to anyone who offends you or whose way of life you don’t agree with.
I will keep Pope Benedict XVI in my prayers as I do feel this has been blown WAY out of proportion.
It is terrible how such a small part of Pope Benedict XVI’s talk has been blown so out of proportion and out of context by the media to the point that he’s gotten death threats. I encourage others to join me in praying for him, regardless of whatever or not you are Roman Catholic or not as in a way it affects all Christians.
