at least four days out of the week. i’m impressing myself with my consistency! it feels great.
How to practice qi gong
How I did it: I have always wanted to do something tai chi/qi gong-ish. Energy disciplines make sense to me, and I have a need for structure around meditation. Was invited by a dear friend to her qi gong instructor's retreat (a guest was leading that day) one weekend and found that I simply don't have the personality for it. I was totally disconnected from the experience. It wasn't bad or uncomfortable, just a bit boring.

with rare exception. it makes a difference in the quality of my day. :)
i just finished my retreat. i love my new teacher. his style is exactly what i’ve been looking for – even better than i had hoped. i’ve practiced everyday for nine days so far and intend to keep that momentum going.
i have a best friend who studies under the same teacher. she will be a source of great support, even from her faraway city. plus, i have new qi gong friends in a nearby city and a new form to look forward to learning in june.
this feels so good. good to go inward again. good to feel challenged again. just two days into the practice, it feels like a week already.
my retreat is in two days! eeeeeeee! i’m really excited. it’s in sunny, warm florida. hooray! i can’t wait to spend an entire week cultivating a qi gong practice. i have really been craving a new discipline and a relationship with a spiritual teacher. i’m going to learn so much.
i am especially looking forward to returning from it motivated and empowered to keep making positive changes in my life.
eeeeee!
i had a little exposure to qi gong when i took a martial arts class several years ago. i loved the awareness of subtleties in my body that i managed to cultivate with just a few weeks of practice. then my life had some upheavals and that practice fell to nothing.
at the insistence of my best friend, i signed up to do a week-long qi gong retreat with her teacher. i am so excited about it! she has done many of these retreats and has often reported profound growth afterward.
i plan to come away from that retreat with a daily practice of qi gong.
it’s definitely pushing my budget, but i am convinced that it is completely worth it. my 2009 goals are to cultivate my career and my spirituality. this would be a huge step toward the latter goal. plus, since my career is part of my life calling, i am sure that the two goals are related and that progress in one will bring progress in the other.
it’s in less than a month!

I have it written in my calendar to remind me that the class is on Monday so that I won’t forget again.
This is a good practice run to see if I actually would use a gym membership.

It was held at the Sr center so it was very Fibromyalgia friendly. Part of it was done while sitting in a chair while we warmed up, then we stood for the second half. She told us we could sit if we got tired. I was fine :) The one thing we did that I can’t seem to do without getting a headache is Alternate nostril breathing. My kids were very well behaved and sat on the sofa by the front door doing their homework for the hour we were their. I asked them if they wanted to take the class but they declined. The instructor told them that they were more then welcome to try it next week. It was a whopping $2 and is on Mondays for the next 6 weeks.
