I joined a group where I played the marimba competitively. I played for a good four years straight! And now I’m damn good. I’m not sure if I’ll keep playing or not… But I think it would be a good choice. It’s a lot of fun and very rewarding! 4 years ago

How I did it: To start, I joined a group that had a marimba part in it. At first, I didn't even know what a marimba was, let alone how to play it. But my instructor was amazing and very patient, and with lots and lots of time, I got better and better. After one year, I became the section leader of the group, and I remained in that position for a good three more years! There's a paper that I have that I'd love to share with anyone interested in learning to play the marimba. It tells about how to hold the mallets, how to strike the keyboard, where to stand, etc. It's a very helpful tool for beginners. With some work, anyone can be good at playing the marimba!
