After work today...  — 1 month ago

My husband and I had a chance to go surfing together! The waves weren’t bad, but several large sets came in. I did alright and caught some waves. My husband and I rode the same one in as our final wave and it was a really good one! I am trying to surf more so that I won’t lose my capabilities since I am leaning more toward paddle boarding these days. Surfing is still really amazing to me though because you end up having to work so hard to catch a wave, and the result of riding a good swell is so very valuable; like the hard work paid off :D It’s crazy how surfing can be so terrifying, yet so rewarding at the same time.

This past week...  — 1 month ago

My husband and I have gone surfing together; one day of which was right after I got off of work. The tide was fairly high, and the water somewhat rough so it made for a tougher time, but I still caught waves :D I am coming to realize that I am an okay surfer, but I probably prefer stand up paddle boarding more. I am trying to keep it all balanced though because I don’t want to get too rusty at surfing. The highlight as always was when my husband and I caught waves together :D

Finally!  — 2 months ago

Since the last entry, my husband and I were able to go out surfing. But this past week was extra special because my Dad, who was visiting us, came out surfing with us too! He hadn’t been on a board since he was 16, but I was so proud to see that he still had it in him as he caught several waves :) We all bonded out on the water, and it was so cool to share one of my favorite activities with him! I wanted to catch a wave with him, but it didn’t work out. I did catch one with my husband though, which is always great ♥

Geez!  — 3 months ago

We went surfing yesterday and the waves were CRACKIN’! I mean seriously, they were really big and scary! I managed to catch quite a few waves, but there came a point where I had to stop and head back in because it was just beyond my limit :( After I got pitched over and pounded for about the 4th time, I realized that my time for the day was up. It was super humbling. But, I am proud that my husband and I both went out and did fairly well :D

Rough!  — 3 months ago

My husband and I went out yesterday and the waves were the wildest I’d ever seen! As we paddled out, the strong winds flung the water into our eyes, stinging them into slits. The waves were so choppy, random and big that there were times that I couldn’t even see any other surfers around, as if they were being concealed by the rise of the swells. Miraculously, we managed to surf some great waves, but it was a serious workout and after an hour we were spent (usually we can go for up to 3 hours). However, I enjoyed the waves a lot – merciless as they were – and definitely had some of the longest rides :D

From now on...  — 4 months ago

All of my surfing entries will go into this category now that I’ve improved so much! I am so happy that I’ve been going 2-3 times a week for the last 3 months. I plan to keep it up :D

Three months of surfing  — 5 months ago

Last year my son went off to college and I went off to the Caribbean to surf in Tortola. I am 55 and an investment advisor. I am able to keep in touch with clients by cell phone, email and skype.

It worked out great and I’m doing it again this year.
