I find that I waste more time trying to figure out what I should be doing than I actually spend doing the things I need to get done. This needs to change. A few thoughts on this are that I should create a schedule to follow each day, create lists of things to accomplish, or simply start picking up the house or doing other menial tasks when I find that I am idly contemplating what to do next.

I’ve been doing so well at this lately, and it’s not even something that I set out to do!

I swear I start out with the best of intentions and then somehow…I end up getting nothing done! Grrrrr! Nice to know I am not the only one…LoL

Lately I’ve been realizing that I haven’t always been using my free time adequately. Early Friday afternoon I spent nearly two hours playing Cake Mania 2. It was a demo version and I wanted to get a decent amount of time out of it because the demo would only last an hour. HOWEVER, I knew that if I would keep playing and not close out of it before my hour was up I could continually play it. There also wasn’t a clock in the room and the game takes up the whole screen. Needless to say I felt horrible when I realized that I played that worthless game for two hours of my life. Why should I play a game about making cakes when I can make cake in real life? I definitely think this means that I shouldn’t get “Cooking Mama” for Nintendo DS.

I get free time and spend it in bed watching rubbish t.v or doing something else, anything else other than the task that needs doing. for example, I have a lesson plan to do except I’m so consumed by my “problems” at the moment that I’m sitting around dwelling on stuff that I have no immediate control over. I could still “dwell” if that’s what it takes but I could get on with my work at the same time. I know what’s going to happen, I’ll rush around like a mad woman trying to get everything done in an hour before it’s all due, then it won’t be good enough, then I’ll be annoyed with myself for not being more productive earlier on. I could be achieving so much more than this!

I’ve been writing all my chores, work schedule, shopping lists, every menial task I need to get done into Outlook. Then, I sync up my calender into my iPod and boom baby, get it done. Very effective, and I’ve become a lot more efficient for it. Plus, I gave up video games and television for good.

I’m going to go and work on this one right now by getting off of this site and working on one of my papers!
