Driving home from church last evening the storm struck – hail the size of peanut M&Ms, branches thrown from trees, torrents of water in the streets, and patio furniturem aluminum and plastic resin, tossed in the air like confetti.
This morning Jeero found one of his favourite trees heavily damaged, and upon making his way to Starbucks found many magnificent jems, Oak, Maple, Elm, and Birch, broken and bent along the way.
Truly an expression of the power of nature!

so exciting!
After a day of nearly 100F – about 35C – the skies opened up with a loud roar and the sky is poring down!
Between entries on 43T, I have been doing quite a bit outside today – all sorts of work in the garden, and lawns, but of course I took several cooling and hydrating breaks during the day (which kept the illusion that I spend all day on 43T alive and well)
Just as I was planning to sweep up the dust and whatnot from the sidewalk and garden paths the sky opened up. As if I was being told from above that I had done enough!

This morning’s light rain has turned into an all day affair which has definitely caused me to rethink my outdoor goals today. At the same time I have been inspired to make some tuna in curry sauce for lunch (curry and wet or cold weather are always a great pair) and later I will have some more time to gloat over how green the lawn is with this mega-watering (it’s July 23rd and unlike my neighbors I have yet to water the lawn, and mine looks so much better)

This morning I awoke to a rainstorm with the sound of thunder in the distance. It was a fantastic way to start the day, this skylight is the view from my bed, foggy rain splattered window with an enormous Red Maple just outside. The freshness of the air should last for most of the day.

It was a gorgeous day, suddenly in the afternoon the wind picked up, the sky got dark, rain fell, thunder roared, and just as I was starting to enjoy it (and get ready to take some pictures) – gone! Blue skies again.

After last evenings wind storm, today was beautiful and quite mild, tonight it’s begun to rain, and I see flashes of lightning in the distance.
Perhaps this evening I’ll stay up a while and watch to see Manhattan illuinated by the flashes.

It’s incredibly windy this evening, and since its somewhat warm (relative to the wind storms this winter when it was below freezing) it is actually refreshing

With some of the crazy stormy weather making its way across the country we’re expected to get something interesting here Sunday. I hope it’s worth writing about.

There’s an old Irish Blessing about the wind being always at our back, and rain falling soft upon our fields, and we are led to believe that this is way it ought to be. On our journey of life sometimes the wind whips around us, kicking up dust in our eyes and bringing bits of grit to our teeth. It gets dark sometimes, blinding us, making our path impossible to see. The rain grows stronger, washing away the footprints we just left behind. We get turned around, pushed down, moved on a different course. When the storm passes we find ourselves on a new path, one we never would have found had we always had fair weather.
These are the storm days we’ll treasure forever.

flurries are circling outside my window, bringing a hush to the night, so much power in such small bits of beauty…
