How to read Catcher in the Rye
How I did it: i had to do it for school. i despised ever moment of it.There is really nothing more to say. It's a quick read if you aren't abiding to a schedule like i was. Oh, and If Holden was a real person i'd punch him in the face. Really i would.

I think it reflects how a lot of teenagers feel today with all the “phoneys” and the like.

I did this for my ENG2D (Grade 10 Honors) class this year for summer school (yes, I’m a nerd and I got ahead – shoot me). We had to do an Independent Study Unit on any book of our choice, and hearing about how John Lennon was assassinated by Mark David Chapman, who analyzed this novel and convinced himself that by killing John Lennon, all would be better in the world. For those who have read the novel, maybe it was because in David’s eyes, he saw Lennon as a phony, and decided to end Lennon’s choice of life. I haven’t stumbled upon a website that contains an essay proving whether or not a thesis of Chapman’s actions.
The Catcher in the Rye is definitely a good book if you choose to do a bit of unnecessary research to understand the book a little better.

I don’t know if it’s my favorite book. But his style is unlike any other author. Very interesting read though. :)

He has a very interesting style of writing, I am about half way through. Cant wait to see how it ends. :)
So my friend recently recommended this book to me. Yes, of course, I’d heard of it before; but I’m just not a big fan of American literature. I went to an IB school in high school and was scholastically trained on international works (plus, I have zero interest in slave horror, dust bowl poverty, and idealistic expansionism – all great American themes).
But I trust Ben and so I picked it up at the library today… Let’s see how this goes.
