it’s in Germany and it was hard, but it feels so amazing when you get to the top and you can see everything around you and you look down and think, ‘Holy shit! I did that!!”
How to hike up a mountain.
How I did it: Someone else took me up there, and because I trusted this person and I do things for them because I like to be with them, I followed them up the mtn. I've done a couple things because of this person and I like sharing the experience with them; they don't let me back down and become defeated by the idea, I feel very safe with them.

Hey,
I should have prepared better and although I had some doubts about my decision at the time, I made the peak and it was awesome!!! 4095.20m above sea level!
I hiked up “A” mountain at school. it was for my geology class-we did it in the heat and id id not like going with a large group because i felt cramped. I might do it again, on the other face, so that I can actually get up to the “A”.

several while we lived in Germany. It was a weekend thing to do there.
Last Friday Casey and I decided to do the 1.3 mile hike up Stone Mountain. I was not prepared. It was hot. It was humid and it is literally 825 feet from the bottom of the mountain to the top. Notice I keep saying MOUNTAIN.
Last week I made it about half way. There was no way I was ever going to see the top of that thing. Casey, my cheerleader, decided that I could make it to the top and today was the day. And you know what? He was right! Trust me, it wasn’t an easy trip. That hike is HARD and anyone that tells you that it isn’t is a LIAR.
Stone Mountain is 1,683 feet above sea level. That’s kinda high. The main attraction at this park is the Confederate Memorial Carving that depicts Confederate “heroes” of the Civil War, Jefferson Davis and Generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson. Its the largest High-Relief Sculpture in the World. The South really is a different kind of place.
Any way. It was a huge accomplishment. Each day I just keep pushing myself further and further. As Martha Stewart says, “its a good thing.”

and bloody knackered I was too.
So windy that, when we got out of the car at the bottom, it was a struggle to walk upright. As James said “I’m sure it will only get less windy the higher we go…”
Eating sushi in the shelter of a crator on an active volcano?
My kind of day.
Nice onsen on the way down too. No sunset though.

yes, tomorrow!
Hopefully it won’t rain. There’s a nice natural onsen at the bottom of it apparently, so with a bit of luck we can have a dip in that on the way back down. Might even be able to time it right to get to see the sunset and cross that goal off too, but I don’t know which way it faces. Oh well. Wish me luck!!
While living in Banff Alberta I managed to hike the paths up Tunnel Mountain… Its by no means the biggest mountain around, but it was deffinitly an enjoyable experience that I will surely repeat many times in the future.
