My inn-laws moved in their new house yesterday. What a summer of hell that was but, it’s nearly done and we have our lives back…I hope.

My husband is an only child and so there is no one else to care for his elderly parents but us and our son. We moved on to the same 35 acres that they were living on and built ourselves a house next door. A few years later it became apparent that they needed a new home (they were living in a trailer with additions built on).
So…this is how I spent my summer vacation The house is almost finished and even though it has been hell at times -I have to say that we have done a fine job. The house is looking good and it has been built for under $60 thousand. It is super effecient with passive solar, heated floors, plus a little Jotel wood stove.
List of things I want in it

It will be forever before I actually get to retire, but its fun to plan and dream. For example, the hubby wants a big island in the kitchen, I really want a dark room, and craft room. We both need built in shelves for a library (we collect a ton of books). Anytime I see something like a cute fireplace, or garden I cut it out or scan it in the computer so I will always have good ideas. Yeah, its fun to dream.
