The title says it all. I’ve been working part-time lately and yet my extra free time is getting pissed away on pointless things.
I’ve taken a small step today in saving some time. I took my swimming gear with me to work so I could go straight to the pool after work instead of going home first. This is a tiny step, but its in the right direction.
Since I had waaaay too much caffeine earlier this evening I’m going to brain-storm some time-saving measures that I can take to make my life smoother and more efficient.
1. Iron all of my work-clothes in one session, once a week and have them ready and waiting in my closet.
2. Fold all of the clothes and put them away as soon as they are dry.
3. Keep my swimming gear in my back-pack 24/7. Have a spare towel to put in the back-pack while the wet one is drying. Swap towels after each use.
4. Always cook enough for dinner so there are left-overs for lunch the next day… saves time and money, which ultimately saves time.
5. Get up early and… DO SOMETHING!!! (still thinking exactly what I hope to achieve here).
6. Keep a diary to avoid missing deadlines and appointments and important dates, like birthdays and weddings.
7. Make plans for the known and upcoming public holidays and vacation time… 5 weeks till my month’s paid leave… still no plans!
8. Get regular decent sleep so all that time exercising isn’t gone to waste.
9. Find a decent bookshop so I don’t waste time milling around in the same pathetic shop that stocks nothing but the most predictable “best-seller” novels by the same 20 or so authors that banged out the 20 best-selling books that are unsurprisingly similar to the last books they wrote. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed a couple of John Grisham novels back in the mid-1990’s but really… I don’t blame the guy though… if you’re on a good thing, right? (does caffeine make you irritable?)

is to know your objectives, decide when to work towards them, and stay true to the timing you assigned to the task. I’m remembering that even small steps eventually lead to my destination, but I have to face the task at hand in a timely way with deliberation.

As long as I have a schedule and goals of what I need done, it seems I get those things done. My biggest thing is to remember to take breaks periodically. It’s not an all or nothing. I CAN work and take short breaks to give me more energy to last for longer periods of time.

Monday afternoon/evening & Tues AM I spent balancing my checkbook. It’s now up-to-date. Praise God.
Tuesday AM/afternoon, I went through a bunch of stuff from the shred bags and found a bunch of important stuff. All that has been separated out now. Yesterday I also bought some office supplies to help us better oganize and a 5-shelf wider bookcase.
All day today, I’ve been going through files. I’ve discarded bills, receipts before 2002, unless I needed to retain it for tax or other important purposes. I now have doubled my # of bags to shred.
The bookcase got delivered @ 10 am, so after I went to Home Depot to get the basic tools (Henry misplaced some of the tools), it took me an hr to assemble the bookcase.
After that, I took the books from my bedroom and study that were trading books and put them in the bookcase. I also gave the kids the bottom shelf of the new bookcase as well as the old bookcase the new bookcase resides next to.
The bookcases look good and not cluttered. Now I will move my 3 ring binders to the bedroom bookcase, and probably move one of the smaller bookcases in the study into our room as I take other stuff out of our bedroom to declutter.
The month of February, I will be decluttering our finances, legal stuff, our home, books, storage areas, toys, etc. I want by my 39th birthday in March to have a clutter free home.
The things I’ve put off, I can no longer do it if I want to be successful in my trading. I must declutter all parts of my life to allow prosperity to flow in.
In order to get everything done, I must use my time wisely.
When i say i want to use my time wisely i am generalizing some things. I want to get the most out of my classes and work. I want to round out my personality. I just want to be a better person. I want to be able to handle my own life and make my own decisions and stop relying on other people to tell me what is a good idea and what is a bad one.. besides who are they? who knows be better than myself. Well i bet there are a few of you out there that see things in me that i dont see in myself but thats beside the point. There are just so many things that fall into this catagory of useing my time wisely. its hard to know where to begin.

I often get some very touching emails from people telling me how much I’ve inspired them in what I’m doing with my life, career, family, etc. It gets a little overwhelming at times, though, it touches and blesses me.
I find it a great responsibility to appropriately respond to people, and sometimes it takes me awhile to do so. How do I do this effectively while giving people the time they deserve?
Trading is such a passion of mine that this becomes an issue as I really want for others to have success, too.

Though a good portion of this trip was driving with my family, split between Henry and me, this was amazingly relaxing to have gone out of town for about a 24 hr period.
Thank you Jesus.
This allows me to be overall more productive.
Note to self to make sure there is time to relax. This has to be a priority, otherwise we face burn out.
