I feel as passionately as ever about ensuring that women everywhere have access to safe abortions, but I have decided to pare down my list. I continue to support a woman’s right to choose and hope you do, too.

In my country,
abortion is totally legal and paid for by taxpayer-funded medical care. But, I want to ensure that it both remains legal and unrestricted here, as well as in the U.S. and beyond.
I certainly believe that this is not just a local issue but something tto which women everywhere in the world should have access.

only 2 people had this as a goal. Today, five people have it as a goal. And while I’m shocked that it’s still such a small number – seriously? more of you don’t care passionately about this? – I’m also pleased that the number has more than doubled. Trend = friend.

at the Tacoma clinic, which is the perfect opportunity to do two goals at once. I’d like to be an escort, but I don’t know if I am big and intimidating enough to do it. I COULD intimidate people, but the point of escorting is to get the patients in and out of the clinic safely, not to engage with protesters. I am also forwarding Planned Parenthood’s request for help to the general VOX (Voices for Planned Parenthood) mailing list, on the off-chance someone would have the time to do that, too.

“Despite overwhelming scientific evidence to the contrary, anti-choice organizations continue to spread the false idea that it is common for abortion to have severe, emotionally negative effects. The fact is that anti-abortion groups have invented this so-called post-abortion syndrome to further their efforts to make abortion illegal and unsafe.”

And I’m shocked. Sure, many people don’t agree with abortion but I have no doubt that at least 50% of the folks on this site do think it should remain legal and safe. Why they don’t have it as a goal is beyond me. Good heavens, “Go to Burning Man” is a goal that 1013 people here have listed. I don’t get it.

many people fight against a woman’s right to have an abortion yet give little or none of their own money to charities that support unwanted children through the first 18 years of their lives. When a mother is forced to give birth to a baby, that child is then at higher risk of becoming a drug addict, a prostitute, committing suicide and dropping out of school.
The cost to society at large of unwanted children is enormous, not only in dollars but also in heartache.

Having a baby is a gift and an honour. Many, many friends are in their early 40s and spending huges sums of money to buy sperm from anonymous donors or go through crazy-stressful in vitro processes with their partners.
It astounds me that anyone who doesn’t really want a precious child would be forced to give birth to one. I would not want to live in a country where the right to an abortion was not fully supported and completely legal.
