donate to KIVA

One of my loans only has a day left to be fully funded! Elvin Jairo Carvajal Rodriguez is a 33 year old restauranteur from Nicaragua. I really liked his colorful picture and with my limited Spanish, it sounded like his restaurant was really doing well in his community. I suspect that one of the reasons why he didn’t get better funding was that his loan request wasn’t translated.

Anyone out there willing to help? He still needs $650… sigh.

Donated $25 to a business group in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. I had to leave the site because I wanted to donate to dozens more, but can’t afford it yet. Can’t wait to start lending more!

I think I have around $150.00 in the Kiva system, so whenever I get enough repaid from my original investments, I can lend to someone new. Not bad, considering that most things I’d spend $150 on are only entertaining for a few weeks at best.

I’ve gotten nearly a year and a half of “entertainment” out of Kiva so far :-)

When I found out about this I was thrilled. What a wonderful thing!! I spent over an hour browsing through things on the website. I can’t wait to donate!! And the fact that you don’t have to make a five hundred dollar investment (or some other huge amount I don’t have to offer) it makes it more realistic for someone of my financial standing (read: poor recent college grad) to donate!!

I donated (lent) more money a few days ago, can’t remember who it was to or why, but I’m sure it was food related. I’m big on food for self-sufficiency.

This is getting more expensive now that the Cdn$ is in the toilet. Oh well, what else am I gonna spend money on – nutmeg lattes?

It’s basically impossible to visit the Kiva website and NOT donate more money.

I am now an investor in Ghanaian potatoes, or something like that.
