I may be back 3 years ago

I’m paring my 43T list down—still believe in Bruce’s goal and I’ll refer people as I stumble our paths cross, but for now I’ll give up on this goal.

I’m still collecting a bunch of used CDs and records and that will very likely go to Eco Encore in the coming 3 months.

Help make this work 4 years ago

I want to believe there are more people in the 43-universe who can take a little time to help this initiative emerge.

Eco Encore is working hard to become self-sustaining. This will allow us to provide Pacific NW environmental organizations with a stable, ongoing fundraising channel. One that provides their supporters with a way to help that goes beyond giving money or time to the programs they support.

Our own inventory development efforts make this happen. Check our current listings :

Team with me to let more people know. Cheers to Daniel for stepping up.

    Thanks,

    Bruce

Looking for teammates 4 years ago

Eco Encore , a 501©(3) non-profit, resells donated used books, DVDs, CDs, videos, and software to raise money for environmental non-profits in the Pacific Northwest.

I’m looking for folks to team with me to start a viral inventory collection effort. Items, especially CDs, DVDs, videos and software, can be shipped to Eco Encore using inexpensive media rate postage. Check here for more information on tax deduction receipts, shipping reimbursement, and basic instructions.

Mention 43things.com when you send anything in. We’ll track the results and report back.

Thanks for your help. Tell a friend.

    Cheers,

    Bruce

    Scaling 4 years ago

We’re using new ops software for listing and dynamically pricing our used inventory. Makes a huge difference.

I’ve started a condominium-based collection system which looks promising. If it’s convenient, folks will give us their used media products instead of throwing them out.

Also, this weekend (Saturday, Oct 1 from 9-2) we’re having our first distributed donation drive, hosted by seven PCC stores in the Seattle area. I’ll be at the View Ridge store. Stop by and say hello.

recycle 43 books 4 years ago

I was just testing search strings on Google, to see how Eco Encore ranked for phrases like “recycle books” and “recycle CDs” and “recycle DVDs”.

Interestingly, 43things was in the top 3 for “recycle books”, and the excerpt from the listed page said “there are no entrys written about recycle books yet.”

Wow – that’s pretty impressive – 43things has got the robot’s attention. But, it seems there should be some substance behind the placement. Maybe this will help.

Eco Encore sells donated recycled books to raise money for environmental non-profits in the Pacific Northwest.

turning used stuff into funding for environmental groups 4 years ago

I’m on the board of Eco Encore – a Seattle-based 501( c )(3) envirnomental non-profit. We sell donated used media (books, CDs, DVDs, VHS, software) on Amazon.com’s Marketplace to generate financial support for Pacific Northwest environmental non-profits.

We’re graduating from our organic development phase to a more programmatic approach to growth. I’d welcome ideas from like-minded folks.
