I have a suspicion this one might take me a while to achieve as often when I cook for more than me, there’s my veggie boyfriend present, and it seems easier to just do one big dish!

Me and some friends cooked one a few years ago when we were around 17/18, it was the best bloody christmas dinner ever.

Learning slowly! 2 years ago

Well… This weekend, I cooked a steak dinner! With chips (only oven chips, but they’re healthier than fried ones, and easier!) and roast veggies. And it was pretty good! If I do say so myself. A roast is suddenly seeming attainable as a goal. I just need to set a date to do the deed!

Well my friends have gladly accepted that i cook for them a roast dinner as a Christmas get-together. I’m so excited. Mmmmm. I’ll post my progress!

Still Alive! 3 years ago

I did it, last night I cooked the almighty roast (with help from my partner). Hmmm, I have to admit it was not half as good as mum’s, but then against she has had a lot more experience at this that I have. My partner and I didn’t get food poisoning so that was a plus, but it just didn’t seem to be that good. I think this will require a fair bit of practice. I also think that for the amount of effort one needs to put in, especially with all the washing up afterwards (we don’t have a dishwasher), it was a bit of an anti-climax. I won’t say that it is not worth doing, but, I don’t think that it will become a ‘must-have’ weekly or monthly dinner. Maybe I will change my mind when the winter month’s start creeping up in about 6-8 months.

The Domestic Goddess 3 years ago

Well, I think that this is one of the easier goals that I have listed. Whilst doing the grocery shopping with my partner last night, I decided that sunday would be my day to be a domestic goddess. Yes, Sunday, the traditional day of roast beef dinners would be continued by yours truely. Hmm. I have no idea how long to cook this meat for, or how long roast potatoes and pumpkin take in the oven. Oh dear, now I am starting to feel somewhat daunted, but, I will still have a go. Note to self, need to check out a recipe book or have a chat to mum. haha. Or alternatively, make loads of gravy to disguise any concerns. hahaha. Now, I really hope that my dinner turns out a bit like the picture. Cross fingers. haha.
