buy bedroom furniture

After years of living out of crates and collapsible storage we have finally upgraded to a beautiful 6 piece antique bedroom suite! Yes, I know that years spent searching for furniture sounds ridiculous but when you are a sucker for detail and craftsmanship the option of settling for something that comes straight off an assembly line is out of the question.

So I am ticking this one off with the satisfaction that can only be felt when you achieve a goal after sweat, tears (I had more than a few meltdowns over our dresserless situation) and perseverance.

I sent an email request to the guy that sold the “set that got away” and he called me back to tell me that he has a new shipment. If he doesn’t have anything we are interested in he is willing to search for something for me!!! Going to his warehouse this weekend…

I have been on the hunt for a few months now and I think my problem is that I am comparing everything to a set that I slept on. There is not a doubt in my mind that there is something else out there for me but I feel like I am making this more difficult than it should be.
So my new strategy is to put it out there and let it go. Voila- the set that got away.

Should be delivered in the next couple weeks. Hooray!

Phil and I have already picked out our bedset at Art Van furniture (artvan.com). It’s beautiful and reasonably priced. We should be getting it sometime in June!

I can’t live like this any longer! I am tired of piles of clothes on each surface and ikea storage. We finally bought an antique wrought iron bed and I actually found a bedroom set that I liked through Craigslist but I didn’t act quickly enough.
I am sure this would be easier if I was into modern furniture but since I prefer antiques I need to be on the look out constantly. Maybe I should start looking into antique furniture dealers instead of focusing solely on craigslist and ebay.

All I have to say is don’t buy Ashley Furniture. It came all scuffed up and busted up, and I had to go through the hassle of getting a refund. I guess to get quality furniture I will need to save up for a better investment.

I graduated from the mismatched college furniture. It is so nice to wake up in a nice and put-together bedroom :)

Opens in 5 days here in Miami – and I will be checking off this goal. I am purchasing the Malm furniture in Oak.

today we bought a mattress. this is very exciting considering that the last 3 years we have been sleeping on a futon (yes, for real). mattresses are expensive (goodbye, $640). And for now we will be putting it on plywood and cynderblocks.

i want the malm bedroom set from ikea. not too expensive and has clean lines. We are planning to move in 6 months, though so i am waiting to purchase this until afer we move.
