First class with Victor today; AWESOME. He’s sorta like James, very intense, very fun, very…hard push, physically.

The main thing he told me to work on was keeping my balance steady; as a small guy, he said it’s easy to push me down or around and I need to compensate for that by keeping my feet more planted.

Another thing he said was to hit the bag harder; not having wraps isn’t an excuse to jut tap it, I need to hit it with intent.

Worked on hooks today and got the first real technical instruction on them. The main thing is that your knee and foot rotate, turning your body to the side. The hook itself is short, and always thrown with the thumb up to prevent a boxer’s fracture.

On straight punches, he told me not to duck my knees down as I twist; I need to maintain my height and rotate straight from there.

so now i have stamina, but i need more strength... 2 years ago

been doing the bally’s kickboxing class 2-3 times a week on a regular basis now. tuesday nights are 45 minutes of high impact cardio. i love it, but i’m annoyed with the instructor. she’s grown on me, but she still interrupts the class to change up the music. whatever. thursday nights are awesome. more of a kempo karate class. definitely more focus on technique than on cardio. still a great work out.

i’m getting bored tho. i want to take a legitimate boxing class. my techniques have improved, but i have the urge to learn the way i would if i would actually enter the ring. so much for my peaceful, non-violent demeanor.
