I suppose the first step is done, but as of late it’s become more of a “junk chest” than signify any sort of hope… sigh9 months ago

I have completely finished filling my hope chest with everything I will need when I move out or get married! The plates and bowls actually wouldn’t fit because it is so full so I have them in a separate box in my closet. The only other things I didn’t get were a set of pots and pans and a block of knives. Because I don’t have anywhere to put them I have put a few hundred dollars in the chest so that I can get a nice set later. It makes me happy knowing I won’t be moving out empty handed and I can’t wait for the big day when I get to unbox it all! 10 months ago
I’ve acquired a few things for my hope chest. While I don’t have an actual chest yet, I have a box of things that I’m not allowed to use until I get to the point of my life where they are needed.
The things:
a pink birth certificate pillow for my hopefully firstborn daughter. I had one when I was born but i’ve lost track of i over there years.
erotic word refrigerator magnets ( I went through the pack. ‘Labia’ made me giggle.)
dvd of Forgetting Sarah Marshall. (I’ve seen it plenty of times. I just want to make sure it’s in my dvd library once I establish one.) 16 months ago
I’m 23, and certainly have most things covered as far as what I need to live on my own seeing as I’ve been doing it for almost 6 years now. However, I would still like to have one for my finer things that I’d like to have when I buy a house of my own, and have children. Right now I live with a housemate and we share everything! I want all new pots and pans because what i bought before we lived together was inexpensive, but worked for us.. by the time I can afford a house, I’d like fill it with nice, new things (as our kitchen wear is getting used a LOT).
I’m looking to find an old and used hope chest inexpensively as they can cost a pretty penny. Once I do that, I plan on keeping my eye out in little boutiques for name brands that will last and that are on sale that i can add to my chest. 17 months ago
How I did it: I had been collection things for a while now but had nowhere to put them. So this past Christmas my boyfriend refinished and old one he had found for me. Sanded it, painted it, and lined it with wall paper so that it would look nice. He even bought me a few things to put inside it :D Now I officially have a hope chest and am feeling very happy about it. I though I had a lot more stuff but now that I have somewhere to put it all there isn't much in the chest. I guess this is a good thing. It just means I have lots of room to fill.
