It seems like my ideas sway a lot depending on who I’ve been talking to, but AHA— I’ve been talking to NO ONE lately and I’ve decided upon a pretty good plan of action, if I can do a bit of career changing while still making my previous job experience look directly relevant. I think this is the kind of work that would really make me happy, and if I can get my foot in the door I think there’s actually room for improvement.
I’d even be willing to move all over the place for a few years, and to get more school if necessary. IF ONLY SOMEONE WOULD START PAYING ME!

I discussed the idea of having a really meaningful career with my career counselor. So far we’ve mostly talked about my MBTI results (INFP, ish) but I liked talking about careers that would be a good fit for someone with my personality type. It was interesting to see how highly ranked a few of the things I’d discussed with her were, how mediocre my last jobs scored in this range, and how poorly one of my wild ideas seemed to fit.
In my mind, low means it would be an interesting job for a little while but not worth going back to school for and not worth struggling through for the next fifty years. High on the list were all “meaningful career” type jobs. Definitely something to think about, although I’m going to have to cross a few of them off because nursing is not the path for a squeamish person like me.

I’m leaving my job a week from Friday.
I honestly do hope I can find a career path I can be happy with, before I get scared and go back to the familiar.
