"i seriously jog in the park, me - jogging! "
How I did it: I started with the ambition of doing it. I started giving myself positive affirmations. I would say to myself: I'm not nearly as big as the people on biggest looser and they do it! or I see people jogging all the time and i barely look at them, so why do i think if it's me out there jogging people will be looking at me?
Physically I started with my personal version of the couch to 5K. i would jog until i needed to walk, and then i would jog when i felt like i could. i kept mental landmarks of where i was stopping, so that at future times i could jog past them!! before i knew it i wasn't walking until almost the end of the trail.
I do however jog outside on non-paved trails. i think that the mulch\ground\ grass trails at the metro parks are much better for my joints. I also found out that jogging outside makes me feel more accomplished than on a treadmill, putting mileage behind me is invigorating!
i also made a playlist of very upbeat popish songs to listen to while i'm out there. I know my park, so i do go alone, BUT i found on some running websites, walking websites, and weight watchers it's pretty easy to find people to go with you who are the same fitness level.
also, like many women do, fight the urge to hold off buying the right clothing until you've lost soem weight. go buy some cute work out cloths, suitable for jogging! you'll feel less self conscious while you're jogging and then you'll be more likely to actually go do it more often. AND, with the right cloths you can avoid some painful issues. good shoe's, the right bra (or two!), sweat wicking soft socks, and some spandex-y shorts to avoid the issue of the baggy shorts getting sucked up!! (don't act like you don't know what i'm talking about, because ya do!)
Lessons & tips: people at running stores are very helpful non-judgemental people who are there for you. don't be afraid. this is soooo achievable.
