I love Natalie Wood! I thought she did a great job in Rebel Without a Cause, and this was just as good, maybe even better. This really moved me, simply because it was something different from the typical hollywood movies on the 50’s. Sure, it wasn’t all free from clichés, but at least I didn’t get bored. One of my favorites from the 60’s!

It was okay, despite the fact that i think Kevin Costner is really boring. Both Sean Connery AND Rober De Niro starred in it, so that kinda helped a bit. It did entertain me, but I usually want some more than easy entertainment. Just like the Vanilla-children, nothing special.
Ahhh, I’m in love with this movie. And also Teshigahara. It’s such a beautiful film. The pictures of the dunes and the slowly moving sand. The insects and beetles crawling and hiding in the sand. Some that watch the movie get frustrated b/c of all the sand in it, that it’s sand practically all over the place. But I liked it, the close-ups of sand on bodies and faces. This includes the opening scene, you start seeing big dots, which after some time turns out to be sand(it was just greatly enlarged).
Another thing I liked so much about it, beside the story and all that, was the music. So strange in use of effects and sounds, which was very interesting.
This movie has made me want to se some more of Teshigahara’s works.
“I wouldn’t give you two cents for a dame without a temper. “
This one fell into my categori of Bogart-gangster-robber-detective-american movie from the 40’s. Not that I don’t like them, they are really fun to watch. But unfortunately, I think they’re all the same. And Bogart, in all the parts I’ve seen him he plays the same character. But he’s damn good at it, that’s for sure! :)
I liked it. The actors did a nice job. The story sometimes got a bit boring, but owerall it was good.
This was such a beautiful film. I liked the way tha urban life were mixed with the forest and the Maoris.
Despite it’s beauty, the film was also unbelievable tragic. All the embezzlement the widow were put under. Some would say that she had a choice, that she could refuse and not let him do those things with her.
But in another way, the piano was her way of communication, her way to show how she felt. She couldn’t just let go of that. It would destroy her whole world.
I really did like this movie. Now I will sit down and learn the theme song she plays on the piano all the time :)
“God! God! Who’s hand was I holding? “
I was told not to see this film alone, but still I did. It wasn’t that scary, but I did pull my feet underneath myself a few times. I loved the camera shots, the special angles everything was shooted in. And the symbols, the house and Elanor, just great. It took me some time to construe it all, but I think I’ve got most of it by now. The use with all the mirrors gave a cool effect too.
I’ve been trying to see this movie so many times, and finally I made it! This was a nice movie, some of it even reminded me of How Green was My Valley. Alvin was such a sweet man, at least in the end of the movie.
A cool movie. I liked the Macreedy-character a lot, this tough dude that wouldnt be messed around by nobody.
Dogme-films are facinating, and this one is probably the best one I’ve seen. Ulrich Thomsen is an actor I am very fond of. They all did a great job, though. What I liked best about this movie was all the suprises.
Marvellous work, really great! :D
