become more politically aware and active

This goal is not currently resonating with me, so I am giving it up (for now.) 4 years ago

I looked up who my state elected officials are, and my district. They’re just names and numbers to me now, but it’s a start. Also, I looked up the date of our presidential primary (Feb. 5, 2008) which I should have remembered from that Newsweek article I read about a month ago.

• Senator Barbara Boxer – U.S. Senate – Junior Seat (Democrat)
• Senator Dianne Feinstein – U.S. Senate – Junior Seat (Democrat)
• Representative Adam B. Schiff – U.S. House – District 29 (Democrat)

• Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger – Governor (Republican) (OK, of course I know this guy)
• Lt. Governor John Garamendi – Lt. Governor (Democrat)

• Senator Jack A. Scott – State Senate – District 21 (Democrat)

• Steve Westly – Controller (Democrat)

I have been subscribing to Newsweek (birthday gift!) and so I’ve been following national politics to the extent it is reported in there.

I missed local election day – yesterday. The election was all for city council and the school board and stuff. Well, at least I truly felt like there wasn’t much of a difference from candidate to candidate (see my previous post on this goal.)

the voter’s pamphlet for next week’s city elections, but I was amazed by how all of the personal statements for each position were nearly identical. I’ll have to dig a little deeper… 4 years ago

One of the biggest political issues I have been thinking about lately is the screwed up voting system. We need to get out of this two-party rut. 5 years ago

of the voters’ guide to develop at least a preliminary opinion on all the propositions. Still hoping to have a discussion with DH and also to look up the various judicial candidates who weren’t included in the guide. 5 years ago

and I still have not made appreciable progress on reading that voter’s guide. Maybe I can eke out some time Friday night to snuggle up on the couch with the guide and a glass of wine. 5 years ago
