day four is about to begin, and all I can say is that I not only hope that your last three days have been amazing, scintillating, effervescently refreshing and stimulating, but that these days have also allowed you to settle into a gentle place in your soul and heart that lets you know that the universe is always guiding you, leading you, nudging you in the right direction and that what you most need, what you most desire is being sent to you, sent like shooting stars into your life, and so with every heartfelt wish I say, I scream, I shout…HAPPY FOURTH DAY OF YOUR NEW JOB RUTH, MAY THE NEXT (you fill in number of your choosing here) BE JUST AS, IF NOT MORE FANTABULOUSLY FABULOUS!!!

the first day on a new job, when there are all these new possibilities and people to meet and probably a new commute, which of course involves eyeballing businesses you never knew existed and seeing new restaurants and thinking that someday that one, or that one, or that one will be our favorite place for me to stop and pick up carry-out from on Friday nights, but you can’t know yet all the small and large ways the new job will impact your life (I used impact instead of effect or affect because you are an editor and I am a coward) and there is a little trepidation involved, but it’s overwhelmed by hope and excitement, and then you begin to realize that you can’t check your e-mail or your 43Things account so often, but if that’s the only drawback, really, life is treating you pretty darned well.

Hope you don’t have to make sense of stuff like this on a day to day basis, dear.

the first day – sorry Ruth! – but nevertheless hope you have a great first week settling into the new job and that it is everything you hoped for and that it all goes wonderfully well…as they say in Japan – gambatte!

I had planned on making you a nice dinner for tonight since it was you’re first day at work and I new you would bee reelly tired butt I had a reely long day and I am reelly tired so I didn’t get it fixed so I hope someone else fixed you dinner or takes you out to super so that you can have a relaxing knight after your first day at work because I knows you will bee reelly tired so maybe your husband will take you out to dinner I reelly, reelly hope so because you deserve it!!!

I’m so glad that you started your new job today and I hope that it’s a good first day because you deserve to have a good day for all the consideration and hard work that you have done for everyone here on this site and for others in your life and I hope that you have nice coworkers and enjoy both your new job and new coworkers and everything especially since you are such a nice person and I hope that everyone is nice to our RuthG and that you have a great great GREAT first day!
