I’m a hugger and hug people all the time and often times those people are strangers. I hugged a woman today that told me she had a miscarriage yesterday. Perhaps that wasn’t a free hug, because it was in response to her pain, but it got me thinking about this goal again. I’m going to mark it as done because giving out hugs is something I do freely on a regular basis, but it’s not really ‘complete’, because I’m not going to stop hugging people. In fact, I’m going to try to make a conscious effort to do it more often and I hope others will do the same.

Well apparently I started this goal over two years ago and have since completely forgotten about it. It’s great to see that 14 people want to do my goal and 5 people have done it! Erm… I haven’t done it though, so there… it’s on my list. I will do it.

I have shown everyone I know this awesom and inspiring video. I have freely given out more hugs in the last few weeks than I ever have before and it feels good. I definately would encourage anyone to give out hugs, freely.

When the people have forgotten about it. Respark it. We can say, “Back in the day…”
The kids’ll love it. I’ll be in my 40s but hopefully look and feel young still. So there’s a long term goal. Possibly the longest.

Months ago, the world’s most talked about viral video personality was LonelyGirl15, the seemingly-chat-happy teenager who wound up being nothing more than a calculated marketing tool. But now, YouTube has seen the rise of a new star who is anything but lonely. It’s Juan Mann, the man who wants to make sure everyone feels the love. And his show of emotion in the video ‘Free Hugs’ has reached millions and even landed a prime plug on ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show.’ Moore scored the film with ‘All the Same,’ a song from his band Sick Puppies. The film was nearly forgotten, but as Moore told the Times Online, he decided to send it to Mann to raise the spirits of the hugger after his grandmother passed away.

The film was then posted to YouTube. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the video had been viewed 700,000 times within four days of posting. Thousand of viewers wrote gushing words of praise. Less than a month later, the ‘Free Hugs’ video has been seen by nearly 5 million people.

‘Free Hugs’ was aired on ‘Good Morning America.’ Oprah Winfrey dedicating an entire segment to the video. It’s turned Mann into a true viral star and has given Sick Puppies exposure they never dreamed of. The band now has a record contract and a debut record slated for release in 2007. ‘All the Same’ has already been heard over 150,000 times on the band’s MySpace page.

I have to thank the ever wondeful Cynonymous for first sending me them link to this awesome video of Juan Mann. Thank you Cynonymous!!! and wundergrl21 for inviting me before I ever thought of starting this goal. Great idea wundergrl21!!!

Juan is just an everyday person who started this “Free Hugs” campaign in Australia, (I believe) and was stopped by the Parliament and wanted him to obtain a $25 million dollar insurance policy so for about two years he has went out on his own and obtained 10,000 signatures, petitioned the Parliament and the result is they allowed him to keep doing this. This You Tube video Free Hugs Campaign has been viewed by over a million people and is on one of the top spots for All Time You Tube videos in just over one week, has been seen on Good Morning America and I imagine will be everyday news because of it’s music and positive message. If you haven’t see it, I must warn you, I cried when I first saw this and have seen it at least 12 times so far. Peace.
