haven’t been on in a while; going to drop certain tasks, elevate others, add new ones.

this is smthing i’m keeping. it’s hard to make the time; what i’m finding is though i have a flurry of ideas i don’t have the ability to really give myself time for some of the things i want to do. obv this is partly an issue of prioritization; i do also think it’s a concern of laziness. for that reason two of the new goals on this day have to do with effectiveness of prioritization and fighting laziness/sloth.

i used to be a huuuge chess buff in high school and the beginning of college. played in tournaments monthly. studied openings instead of going to class. played until sunrise.

but junior year of college had my intellectual drive for chess sapped by a profitable poker career.

some things have happened since then; suffice to say i want to get back into chess.

i’ll be doing all the puzzles in this book. i’ve periodically looked through and solved puzzles for 10 or 15 minutes at a time, but i’m going to hammer through this entire thing and solve all of them—no looking at the answers. i’ll put a circle next to one when i’ve looked at it and an X through the circle when its done. i want to do this in 5 months.
