I am doing... 2 months ago

reasonably well on this one. I started to slide a little about 10 days ago but got “back on the bus” so to speak. I would say I’ve done this a total of 17 times now (working on getting to 30).

I realize now that I need a good way to track this habit so I have an accurate picture of what I’m doing. For other habits I keep a log. Time to start keeping one for this. I think I will use a post-it to reserve one page in my daily notebook for this.

    Habit Change 2 months ago

I wrote about this one in my financial goal but I decided it needs its own separate goal so I can really make sure I follow through.

I used to take the bus all the time, but a few years ago my habits changed. I started driving to work which is very expensive thanks to downtown parking charges. I drove to work because I was waking up late and I wanted to get to work the fastest way possible.

Bus service is really good from my neighborhood to my work. And it turns out that driving my car isn’t always faster than taking the bus. Usually driving saves me at most 5 minutes in the morning. Taking the bus means I can nap a little longer while riding and it’s certainly more relaxing to let someone else do the driving.

I started taking the bus again about 2 weeks ago, which means I’ve done it 10 times so far. A couple of times a bus didn’t show up in the evening which cost me about 30 minutes of extra waiting around time. That’s infrequent though and doesn’t happen often enough to offset the extra cost of driving.

I’m going to keep this one on my list until I’ve taken the bus to work 30 times. If I backslide and start driving when it’s not necessary I will start the 30 days over.

Although I wasn’t very happy about having to wake up earlier, it really wasn’t that bad. Except…there was this crazy old lady that kept yelling about things, annoying. Lightrail starts mid-July so I can start taking that. Hopefully I can wake up early enough everyday to do so and save myself some money.

One day I will actually wake up early enough to take the bus to work. That will save me so much money instead of driving and paying for parking. But I love my sleep time.

    YAY! 15 months ago

The car is in the shop so I took the bus. Yay bus! Here is why buses are good in Albuquerque.

    1. Drivers are pleasant and helpful.
    2. Large picture windows are the perfect way to see the mountains and the horizon.
    3. People on the bus aren’t so damn uptight.
    4. Taking the bus home is TEN TIMES MORE RELAXING than driving home.
    5. You can read, or knit.
    6. Bus basically runs door to door from my apartment to my workplace. (This guarantee may be null and void if transferred.)

husband is not comfortable with the idea and that’s fine with me. I wasn’t thrilled about it either, tbh.
