As October is coming to a close I managed a stop in Columbus over the weekend for some of my favorite denise’s pumpkin ice cream. It was by far better than any other pumpkin ice cream. It was definitely interesting to make it around to a few different places and see the differences.

some pumpkin pie ice cream last night. It was good, but I think cold stone is still in the lead.
Cold Stone had good pumpkin ice cream. We got it with whipped cream, caramel, and grahm cracker crumbs mixed in and it tasted like pumpkin pie. This has been my favorite so far.
the mrs. and i tried handel’s ice cream. they have a flavor called pumpkin ripple. it has marshmellow cream swirled into the ice cream. i thought the pumpkin was good but the marshellow was too sweet and ruined it.
we have an ice cream maker that doesn’t get used very often so yesterday i looked up a few recipes and sometime soon i’ll have to give one or two of them a try. some look really easy, others look pretty involved. i’m almost certain that the level of involvement will have a positive correlation to the awesomeness factor of the ice cream.
i figure who knows, maybe i’ll be the one who makes the best pumpking ice cream in akron.
I went to Stricklands which is a local frozen custard chain because their flavor of the day was pumpkin. it was good, but not what i was looking for. I think that it has to be hard pack ice cream opposed to custard because custard is more like the consistency of soft serve. we may be making a trip to dayton in a few weeks with a side trip in columbus to visit some friends and definitely go to denise’s for pumpkin ice cream.
when my wife lived in columbus she lived close to a little ice cream shop (denise’s) with the best ever pumpkin ice cream. my mission this fall is to find something in akron that’s even better.
