Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

MaryMy Surgery is This Coming Monday

I guess I have to do this, so I put it as a goal on my 43 things page so I can mark it as a thing I have done! Surgery is this Monday. 6 years ago

artisticsoulGallbladder be gone!

And so it is…the gallbladder is history! The first few days were really rough. I had a bad reaction to the pain medication, had tons of pressure from the air used to blow up my insides, and felt like my ribs have been broken. But the pressure is getting a little less every day, the wounds are not even that bad looking, and I ate mac and cheese and two brownies for the first time in months! Thanks all for your well wishes. I am going to continue to rest and recupe:) 8 years ago

artisticsoulOne less organ...

will soon be missing from my body. GB surgery is set for Thursday, November 30th. Mix of emotions but hopefully I can eat REAL food soon..and it will be great to eat for Christmas:) 8 years ago

artisticsoulGetting somewhere

This whole situtaion has sucked the big one, in so many ways, including the biggest pain in the a$$: the doctors. I have a seriously whacked out primary who thinks I look great at 95 lbs and didn’t see anything wrong with me staying on a no fats diet for a few more months, and then my gastroenterologist didn’t see my surgery as “any rush”. Well, screw them both. With lots of luck, a really sweet and concerned administrator at the surgeon’s office and maybe good karma? on my side, i finally got a surgeon’s consultation for this coming Monday! WooHOO! Surgery will hopefully be two weeks later ! 8 years ago

artisticsoulAnd the pieces are unfolding...

I had my endoscopy today. Was EXTREMELY nervous to the point where my blood pressure was super jacked up, but it was so fast and I woke up right away from the anesthesia that I didn’t even know I had been “out”. And more importantly, I didn’t get sick! So far, the doc said I have acid reflux but it could be from gallbladder which is the HIDA scan next week. No ulcers, but they found a polyp (seemingly benign, thank God, but they are biopsing just to be sure)and removed it. I cannot wait until this is all over and I can feel as though I have my life back again. Although, today, i have eaten a lot without any nausea or bloating. Yay! 8 years ago

artisticsoulSeeing a gastrointestinal specialist

On Tuesday, October 17th. I am actually excited. So sad. At this point, I will pay him huge amounts of money on the spot(not sure where I will get this from) to rip the darn thing out. 8 years ago

artisticsoulSo confused and sick of being sick

I am doing all sorts of research on if I truly need surgery. My ultrasound showed no stones and my gallbladder was not diseased. Anyone with information , knowledge, suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated. I may be asking for further testing but my new doctor sucks. 8 years ago
