I am upset that Darfur isn’t getting the media attention it deserves. An entire genocide is happening as we all wonder what Brangelina is doing. Ugh. I am afraid I am going to have to volunteer. I am not doing anything at the end of the year…(Decemberish). I figure I could donate a few months/half a year to the effort…that said, I am not much of a people person but what is going on in Darfur disgusts me to the fifth degree.

I am 17 years old, waiting to finish high school at a small school along the coast of central california. For as long as I can remember I wanted to help people in life, and in 2004 the Genocide in Darfur compels me to act. I would like to join a group of people to help the humanitarian disaster in the region in the summer of 2010. If anyone has any connections to knowing someone that could help me join in helping end the genocide in Darfur it would be greatly appreciated.

My husband and I are retired parole officers in the State of Washington, USA. We want to contribute our time and energy on the ground in Darfur to help resolve the humanitarian crisis there. We are both in good health. He is 71 and I am 59. We can get ourselves there. Can you hook up us with something worthwhile to do?

Hi,

My name is Jacolyn. All my life my dream has been to be creative…to be a fashion designer. I finished college in fashion & succeeded in my field of choice. I worked for a very well know company in the US & just recently quit. I quit without another job. Most people would think I was crazy…I had a great job, but I just quit.

I quit because it no longer fulfilled me. It was so trivial to me that I was worrying about a thread color & there were people in the world who were struggling to live. What I once saw as a life accomplishment now seems so trivial…so unimportant. One of my close friends, when trying to help me come to terms with my decision, told me…”why should you feel a sense of failure for a profession that you chose when you were 19 years old?”.

This is so true…my life has changed and I have changed. I long for an opportunity that lets me use all of my creative capacity to make a difference. I hope to get that chance. I just want to be close to people…to feel that I can do something to bring a smile to their faces…I long to have a chance to understand their way of living…that would fill me with such gratitude that I can never understand with the life I chose to live before.

I walked away from the job of my dreams…because I want to make a difference in the lives of others…I want to give all of the passion and love I have inside to people…directly….NOT in a monetary gift…I want to give them me…my hands…my love.
