Where's the Dormouse? 3 years ago

The unbirthday, which was Saturday (December 2nd), was fantastic! Steve who came in from Pennslyvania gave Mariel, Vauhini, Selena, and myself a ride. When we got there, Jenna, Tabitha, and Samantha were waiting and we were all taken up to our table. Eventually Alex, Kevin, Cathy, and Liju arrived making it one heck of a tea party.

The tea trays came out along with the different kinds of teas (I ordered my favourite blend so I didn’t try anything else except for the hot chocolate) and everyone just had so much fun. After the dinner I opened up a few gifts then the cake arrived. Before I could present the cake to everyone at the table (it was my gift to them since it was everyone’s unbirthday), Liju told the waiter to put on candles for me. When he came back, they all sang happy birthday and then we started to wrap things up.

Steve took us (Mariel, Vauhini, Selena, and myself) over to Dylan’s Candy Bar then after we headed back to Vauhini’s place where we had alcohol and watched Beerfest. I know Tabitha, Liju, and Samantha headed over to the Met to see the Christmas tree lighting, but had no idea where the others headed off.

It was an awesome night.

(When Kevin came in and saw the teapots he asked where was the dormouse. This came after he asked if we’d have to switch seats in order to adhere to the Hatter’s rules). :)

I ordered the “surprise” (those who attended last year in addition to Cathy know what it is) and created all the favours (I just have to correct two of them). I’ll be honest that I found it surprising that if 14 or more people show up then we get moved into the party room which gets $100 heaped on per hour. I thought the magic room number was 18, so now I feel really bad that I can’t allow anyone to bring guests. Which sucks because I mean if someone wants to come and will pay for themselves or if someone already coming wants a friend or significant other, they should be. However in the event that we get moved to the party room, it becomes my responsibility to pay the fee and I’m unemployed (thus meaning I can’t afford that).

Most seem to be understanding, so I’m just hoping there are no surprises along those lines. Probably on Thursday I’ll send the reminder email along with all the pertinent information (which I’ve already sent, but people are forgetful).

I wish I could have done Tim’s dinner in the same manner however Alice’s will be lacking a baker so it seems weird to take someone to a place that specializes in bakery and not have baked goods. Plus the place I did research on seems more fitting, though I would’ve liked to go to a tea room like we did on our first date.

Répondez s'il vous plaît. 3 years ago

I sent out the invitations yesterday for the unbirthday party I’m hosting in early December. I’m almost positive no one’s birthday falls on the selected day. I’ve already made the reservations and thus far eight confirmed, one maybe, and six have not responded as yet. Still I’m pretty excited… I already started working on the favours.

I decided that Alice’s Tea Cup was the place. Nostalgia.

My birthday is coming up soon so I may just follow the same guidelines as I did last year, an unbirthday for myself and some of my friends. It will most likely take place sometime before my birthday, but not too far in advance at Alice’s Tea Cup, because everyone knows that LadyCheshire and myself worship that place. Or perhaps we’ll try something new like Sushi Samba. Not exactly tea party like, however it will suffice :)
