I’m back in the city now for the winter. I’v e been pretty good about going out every day. I’m doing the coffee shop thing daily. I have no coffee at all at home. Right now it’s lovely weather, just right and my favorite time of year.

    Persnickety weather 1 month ago

It’s been way too rainy and blustery to go out. Both the dog and I are very restless.

Need to get a good quality new raincoat and boots, and then I can at least go out when it’s not so windy.

I just have to get through today (day 1, lol). Tomorrow traveling so will walk airports, etc. Traveling through Sunday so will get plenty of walking those days too. Monday will be next “challenge” day where I have to self-motivate.

Walk Every Day In October 1 month ago

On October 1st, i’m starting a challenge that i just made up while watching The Biggest Loser. Every day for a month, I will walk one mile (or at least 2000 steps using a pedometer) and take pictures of the things I see. I am seriously lacking in a daily routine/ritual, exercise, fresh air, and fall photographs. This challenge will allow me to experience all of these things at one time.

I bought a somewhat expensive thermal/amazing fuzzy warm material sweater and it’s the warmest thing ever. i plan to wear it, a lot. i have boots that i love. i can attempt to knit mittens. i don’t want the idea of being cold to stop me from experiencing the fall weather and all of the colours and crunchiness. i don’t want excuses to prevent me from taking the pictures i want to take.

For the last fall or two, there’s been a beautiful round tree with light orange leaves, only like 500 feet from my house. i would walk by it on my way to school (when i went) and i would think, “i NEED to get pictures of that tree.” Dan, Ashley and I walked by it the other day. It’s dead. I missed my chance because i didn’t want to have to go outside.

    Doing well 2 months ago

This is going really well, especially since I spent the extra $$$ on good high-quality sneakers and hiking boots.

I think I’ll mark this goal done if I do the big hike I’m planning for next Saturday.

Well, will leave this up here a little longer, but its mroe or less true now. I spend like 8 hours a day at work walking and thats good enough IMO.

Prevention magazine recently put out a special booklet on how to improve your health in six weeks by walking (and strength training) every day. I am integrating their program as part of my training regimen to get in shape for my second goal: hike the inca trail.
