get the dreaded gum graft surgery so that cold winds don't bother my teeth anymore

yes, i had this done, but have only now felt like writing about it. let’s just say that i really don’t see why this operation doesn’t warrant laughing gas. they did three grafts with novocaine only, which WORE OFF part way through. dear god. then they had to shoot me back up again. TWICE. i believe i had a total of 12 shots of novocaine. then i spent four days on oxycodone with a face that swelled up all assymetrically, like an orc from lord of the rings. i won’t go into the details of this operation. not cool. but let’s say that two of the grafts did quite well, actually, because the recession wasn’t too bad. the third was a terrible recession, and it might need some tweaking to get it where it really should be. the scary thing: the gum tissue on this one seems to be fusing to my lower lip (way down, on the inside, but still…) ugh. not done yet! 5 years ago
