refreezer is stressed, out of balance, and feeling much better
On zero thyroxine, but I fit all the symptoms for adult ADD – so I’m probably hyper. Trouble is, I’ve been working inefficiently and under pressure, so working long hours, getting minimal sleep, sleeping over in the office, eating badly, not getting enough exercise, haven’t been able to get away to get a blood test, so I don’t know where my thyroid levels are, and generally not coping. no chance of a holiday, but lately i’ve been making a point to take at least one day of the weekend to do washing & house stuff. i think that helps a bit.

I’ve stopped taking thyroxine altogether and I still feel jittery, scattered and distracted – and I’m not randomly dropping off to sleep. Will be interesting to see what the next blood test shows.

lower dosage
I dropped my dosage way down to about 25ug/day, and I’m functioning much better. A couple of years ago I would have been like a stoned koala on that dosage. It’s amazing how much it affects my sensitivity to background noise. I still hate the noise in my office, but now I can think and work with it, rather than not being able to think about anything other than being somewhere else.

a bit low I think. darn, I wish there was a better way to regulate dosage. This whole pill thing sucks.

blister packs
Anyone else started using the new blister packs? I’ve been stuck in a long cycle where the thyroxine gradually goes off in the fridge over 6 months or so. So I’m fine for a few months, then I slowly get hypo, ramp up the dose, I’m ok for another couple of months, then get hypo again, at which point the pills are useless and I throw them out and get a new batch, go hyper for a few weeks, and start all over again. Maybe keeping them in a big thermos in the fridge would help.

snoozing at work. that means definitely low. hold dosage here to see if I stay low.

I don’t know where my levels are now. I just nodded off at work, so I’d guess low – maybe the jitters I’ve had were from actual stress rather than hyperthyroid. I hate relying on dosage like this.

refreezer is stressed, out of balance, and feeling much better
Stopped taking thyroxine for a few days, and I’m still awake and even feeling slightly hyper. Been a bit insane lately. Maybe there’s some feedback going on there..

hyper on less
Taking less thyroxine and getting more hyper. This is stupid. It could be that I have a lot of stress at the moment – I find I need less thyroxine when I’m more stressed – so taking a constant dose can make a nasty positive feedback loop: stress -> excess thyroxine -> more stress. I need to stabilize my dose before the next blood test. blah.
I’m thinking hyper could actually be worse than hypo. Hypo I just get sleepy, vague and forgetful. Hyper I get jittery, nervous and procrastinate (because I can’t concentrate on anything). Both bad.

I went to a meeting and realized that other people know so much more about their condition – perhaps because theirs is more dangerous (hashimoto) whereas mine is latent. Which allows for the chance that it can be cured entirely, as people have told me… well, as to that I’m skeptical).
I need to find a good doctor, one who’s really able and willing to explain and who doesn’t only say “you’re fine, see ya in a year”. I also still have that “visit an alternative healer” thing on my internal list. I want to know and understand my blood test results, in order to find out at what level I feel best (if I can feel the difference). In addition, I’m currently trying to be more careful about avoiding interference with certain foods: after taking my daily pill, I try to wait half an hour before eating. I’m not sure however if it’s okay to consume milk products (cafĂ© au lait!) after 30 minutes. 60 minutes? Gotta find out. (It’s another goal to drink less coffee too, but I’m not ready for that change.)
My suspicion about interference between my thyroid medication and the PILL (which becomes apparent when one switches to another pill and experiences consequent fluctuations in TSH level) has been confirmed. I want to get off the pill anyway… try something new.
And I learned that I should SING more!
