I did the best I could.
We adopted 2 families from social services this year. One had nothing (literally) and the other was just in a bad situation.
From me came sturdy walking shoes for Mom, and a nice sweat suity thing.
I also got her a cook book with lower fat recipies in it.
I donated some sports bras for the kids at the Methodist Homes.
And I put a few books about Basketball stars into the toys for tots bin.
I wanted to do baseballs and basket balls, but it just didn’t happen out that way.

I noted the this morning as I was watching Sat am cartoons.
They have the Bella Dancerella which is sort of a video popstar dance along, and also a Power Rangers “training tape” both gets kids up and moving, under 30.00
Might be just the ticket for kids who don’t really like team sports, but do have a dash of the dramatic.
Or, maybe its just junk?

there is a bin at the gym now. It actually goes directly to toys for tots marine corps collection, which makes things really easy.
I want to get some things soon and put them in there.
I think I might do some pretty water bottles. I want to do sports equipment, but I also want to put some things in there that might encourage girls especially who aren’t so active, to become a little more active.
Hmmmm.

Just for any of you who want to participate…
Heres a Grrreat book thats a Bargain book on Amazon.com (currently at about 3.99) I ordered it and found myself surprised to have purchased an Autographed copy for that price.
This book is funny and would entertain teens and adults. One of my favorite parts so far is when he is running and wants to go through a taco bell drive through late night and they won’t let him through without a car, so he has to beg one of the cars in a line to take him through the rive through….
The author is getting a bit more famous with his 50 marathons in 50 days…

QUite an inspiring read at a low price, I’m going to order a few more copies for bookcrossing!

I of course think being fit is quite important. I treat people everyday who have let weight related health problems become chronic and life threatening. One goal I have to get people moving and the holidays is a time when movement is not usually a top priority.
So this is how I plan to do this. Any other suggestions are soooo welcome!
1. Invite my friends to do something physical with me. (ie walking in the park, a hike, a workout, etc) Especially friends who aren’t already very active.
2. Donate toys that promote activity to toy drives rather than video games. this includes equipment such as Jogging Bras for teens, and things like nerf footballs, baseball mitts, balls and small sets of hand weights, bike helmets, knee pads etc.
3. donate books to toy drives about sports heros and if I can find any nutrition recipe books for teen girls especially.
4. Talk to my Gym manager to see if they would put up a box and have the people from the gym participate, and then donate the stuff directly to the Marine toy drive or the shelter. (this I am nervous about)Perhaps they could even give a few free workout passes to parents.
5. Invite 43things people to participate in this goal as well. It would be so exciting if lots og gyms around the world did this as a holiday project. I mean it’s a gym, why not promote healthy living….
