So far I haven’t made much: 2 totes, a duffel bag, boxers, mittens, pajama pants, a dress, skirt, and soon a vest, but I kind of know what I’m doing now and hoping to make a lot more. I love being able to wear what I make, too.

Bought a vintage Singer this weekend. In great condition. I love it. Comes with a cabinet too so my usual complaint re: no table is no longer valid. I plan to test it out this weekend. I really like the older machines. I can’t wait to get my hands on the really ancient black Singers, the ones that look like a sideways coke bottle.

my boyfriend bought me a sewing machine for my birthday. Once I read the manual I’ll be on the road to success! L
I’ve always wanted to sew my own clothes, as a way to be creative and frugal at the same time. My mom used to make some of my clothes when I was little, and my stepmom does the same for my little siblings. I know the basics of how to use a sewing machine. But, I haven’t sewn much at all since I was a teenager. I recently watched the show Gossip Girl, and I’ve been re-inspired by Jenny Humphrey to accomplish this goal. I love her style, and since I’m broke anyway….my goal is to take some classes this summer on designing, making, and fitting clothes.

I knew how to sew when I was younger, and completely dropped it. I inherited a sewing machine, and am getting ready to start up the sewing and start making my own clothes. Wish me luck!

I’m working on this.
I took fashion at school this year, and I have it this semester, so it’s great. :)

I want to be able to make my own clothes. There is nothing quite like making something yourself that gives you pride in wearing it. I’ve made one shirt and one purse in my life and they both made me very happy. I need to learn how to sew better in order to do it though.
