I’m on leave from my job. It’s a high stress, fast paced job in the medical field. I guess I was running on adrenalin for so long, I had gotten used to it. Then I just sort of shut down. After a few weeks off, I was so surprised by how crappy I still felt, I went to see my doctor. She told me I should start getting more excercise, slowly building up from a five minute walk twice a day. That’s what heart patients have to do. Anyway, if you ever wonder what poor working conditions, such as high stress, long hours, understaffed, poor leadership, and caring enough to put up with it all can do to you, take my word for it, it’s very damaging. Major depression, physical limitation, just the feeling you need more rest and you can’t rest enough to get rid of that feeling, are only a few symptoms that result from funning on adrenalin to do a nearly impossible job, for years. I just pray that I can recover.
