I plan to write a daily journal of my gratitude list – acknowledgement of the things in life that I appreciate.
I have experimented this last year – for two months I wrote down all the things that I felt grateful for on a daily basis. It started with a good-feel event, like “getting a Starbucks coffee treat from a friend” and then it went on for 2 months.
And the good thing is that every time I did it – it just amplifies the effect – every day for 2 months I received free treat. It’s just that after two months of doing that gratitude list – I was bored and I stopped and those free treats stopped too. But I take satisfaction in the fact that this “attitude for gratitude” experiment does work.
Whoever said there’s no such thing as free lunch – been there, done that!
I would like to once-again jumpstart my life on “having an attitude for gratitude” for the stuffs and events and people my life is made of.
1) For my country.
2) For my family.
3) For my boss, Cathy, who is very understanding of my mental illness.
4) For my therapists.
5) For my area of Michigan which is quite pretty most of the year (even in the snow).
6) For my cheap rent.
7) for the convenient location of my apt near the highway yet close to a farm.
8) For my massager on my chair.
9) For my new chair.
10) For my new pastor, Chad, who has been with us a year now and apparently has not yet burnt out on us yet.
11) For my choir director, Carol F., who is an awesome demonstration of the love and grace of God.
12) For my choir group, gotten to know them as friends, prayed with them. Laughed with them. Gone out to eat with some of them.
13) For Caryl L. who cares about the plants around the church along with me.
14) For my morning glory vine, which is now a seed-giver at this point, the apt. made me cut it down.
For what flower I have left in the snow.
For my work letting me out early and make up work tomorrow.
For my job which is flexible and allows me to make up time in the early morning when no one else is around to distract, and they really need me to do reports from midnight.
for my brain which works extremely well considering I once pickled it with deer tranquelizer, barbiturates, and speed in the 1970’s.
For my education, some of which was paid for by my parents, some by govt. and some by me.
For my car, which is a nice one, a Sebring, 03, cool spoke wheels.
for my car which is still going in spite of bent rim and slightly loose tie rods.
For the Gospel and for Jesus who saves me.
For God who loved me enough to die a cruel death, Him being innocent, on my behalf.
For electricity.
For computers.
Gotta go now.
