I’ve passed through Oregon many times, and I’ve seen it on brochures and such, but never actually made it there. What a cool quirk of nature.
tooldiva thinks volunteering gets more interesting as I get more experienced.

It’s been years but I still remember the beauty, the wildlife & a HUGE amount of snow in the middle of June. It was a neat lodge on the part grounds…hope that it is still so nice.

A few years ago I moved to Southern Oregon and I’d never been to Crater Lake. My boyfriend took me in the winter when the area is covered in snow. It was so beautiful, so peaceful and awe-inspiring. This year I’m planning to go and take the guided boat tour of the lake’s surface.

Although the lake is in the middle of a National Park, there is some sort of calmness when around the lake. I visited it on a calm, clear day. The wildlife was almost as wonderful as the view of the lake.

When I was a kid, I had this weird hippy coloring book about Oregon, with a picture of crater lake that had a wizard hat in the middle of the mountain and some other psychadelic imagery around crater lake. When I went and visited, it wasn’t as trippy, but just as magical. And it turns out the island is called “Wizard Island”.
