I started using stayfocusd.
Hopefully, it’s going to help, although I’m sure I’ll try to procrastinate in some other way now. Got to hide my books and remote control! :D 1 week ago

convoswplantspositive and negative cyberspaces

i’ve noticed myself gravitating sliiiiightly away from the time-wasters (i.e. life-destroyers) that distract me on the net. this isn’t to say i’ve completed this goal; far from it. but i want to follow this gravitational pull further, let myself forget about all the bullshit to take my mind off things. instead, when i sit there at the computer wanting something to do, i should do meaningful things like 43things and dreamviews. 8 months ago

convoswplantsnatural decline

definitely have been making good strides on this one. i’ve found it to be kind of like cutting back on drinking: straighten out the most important aspects of your life, and bad habits like internet overuse and absurd drunkenness curb themselves. 9 months ago

convoswplantshogwash and hoohah

i’m thankfully starting to lose interest in most of the unproductive bullshit that has been consuming me for the last year or so. gotta keep chipping away at this… 43things doesn’t count of course! i love my 43things. 10 months ago

convoswplantspassing out

this is one of the goals i expect to manifest as part of my great, long-planned comeback. drink less, use the internet less, get back into the swing of 43things… i’m sort of expecting them to all come together. when does the comeback start? today! or… maybe tomorrow. 10 months ago

convoswplantswork, play, sleep, repeat

i’m finding that the internet really disrupts my productivity/leisure/sleep cycle. reddit is a particularly nefarious culprit. i have to really reflect on how useless my time spent on there is whenever i’m tempted to type those wasteful letters. 18 months ago

monofelizMy body was made for more than being in front of a screen

Progress on this is unsatisfactory… I definitely use the internet as an avoidance tool. What I’m feeling now is that if I’m going to avoid and escape, then maybe that’s what I’m gonna do for a bit, but there are other things that could replace the internet to achieve that aim. Like drawing or going for a walk. I feel like the physical side to life is really lacking for me. The internet keeps me mentally very busy but…. how much am I missing out on? I think it’s a lot.

There was an idea talked about on the BBC World Service suggesting taking a day off to be visual-media-free. I would like to do that. A day with nothing to do with screens. 23 months ago

convoswplantsmore move time

i’ve definitely been using the internet less. i figure that if whatever im doing on the computer isn’t necessary and doesn’t motivate me, i just gotta do something else. 2 years ago
