“Although I am less than the least of all God’s people, this grace was given me…”
Ephesians 3:8
For such a great man of God, Paul, to consider himself “less than the least” says it all.

I am good at alot of things that alot of others don’t pick up as easily and in those fields, that has always been the case. Because of that, I know full well having these abilities is nothing to do with any personal merit, but rather God has blessed me with them. Despite that, I like showing people when I get good grades and take pride when in class I do something good. I don’t want to be selfish, I don’t want to show off, I don’t want to be the type of person that thinks being the best is better then doing your best, because that isn’t the case. Being humble is more decent then being the best and having people know it, so, this is my goal, to be humble :)

Even if it means being the lowest  — 6 months ago

It’s so much more admirable to be humble and be considered the lowest due to a good heart than to be the most popular and loved celebrity because you went out and acted selfishly and arrogantly. It’s good to be content with who you are even when your power lures (as T.D. Jakes puts it) are unknown to the world (in other words the good qualities of your heart) because you are more admirable in knowing that you don’t need their approval to make you happy. You can be happy with yourself because you know that deep down it’s you who is more, because you didn’t have anything you had to prove. Arrogance I’ve found is a result of insecurity and fear of rejection. But when people just don’t care about rejection, and are content with who they are, THAT makes them more of men and women than showing off, cause they didn’t need your approval to know that. That is cool, not a show off. It’s really the truly courageous and truly gifted people that we never think of in this world, cause they’re not promoting anything. They don’t need your permission to be happy. They know they have the right to be happy and they take it without fearing what others think. They truly respect themselves. That is such a beautiful thing about humility.

I easily understand concepts in school, especially math, and I know that God has given me this talent – it’s nothing I’m doing – but I still feel proud sometimes. I don’t want to be proud. I’m not better than anyone else. God, make me humble. Make me humble.

i need to free up goal space  — 1 year ago

Worth doing!

and I think the best way to practice this in my daily life for now is through the goal of asking, “How am I like this?” every time I get judgmental or critical. So I’m checking it off, which doesn’t feel very humble :)

This is a tricky one  — 1 year ago

Be humble enough…Jason is an excellent example to follow here.
Don’t be proud of your accomplishments. At the same time don’t project a wrong image of yourself. Be genuinely humble and it will show.

um... this is self defeating  — 1 year ago

i think if i actually ever mark this as done, it’ll be un-humble… so i’m just gonna mark it done now and keep working on it :)
