Find inexpensive ways to turn my chaotic home office into a nice, inviting room where I could actually enjoy spending time.

to finishing this! Yay! I still need to do some more organizing in here, and I would like a new desk and new curtains. But I spent a lot of time organizing the office this weekend, and I also moved another lamp and the digital piano in here. And it`s starting to look really nice!!
And it`s becoming sort of a sanctuary for me really. I tend to make a mess and leave stuff all over the flat all the time, but keeping this room nice is really important to me after all the work I`ve done, so I`m quite serious about that! My bf leaves stuff in here quite often, and that just immediately gets stuffed into his closet or something, I`m not going to wait for him to clean it up himeself, that just doesn`t happen.

All in all, I`m quite happy with my progress on this goal!

came to pick it up yeaterday. Yay! That alone made a huge difference to the room, it took up a lot of space in there, and those machines aren`t exacly pretty. And my parents are buying me some new lamps for the room for christmas. I`m really getting somewhere with this! I still need to do some tidying and organising of shelves and drawers in there, get a new desk and some curtains and move a freezer and wardrobe out and move my digital piano in. After that, I`m pretty much done with this project!

the venetian blinds today, yay! And since I`m buying them with the money I get for the exercise machine I`m selling (to be picked up tomorrow), I`m sticking to the idea about keeping it inexpensive too. Woho!

I`ve been working quite hard on this lately, and I`m really starting to see the nice room that this could be now! Still a lot of work left, but I`m starting to feel like I`m getting closer. Yay!
Plan ahead:
Today: clean and tidy desk and the top of drawers and tables in here. Put out an internet add to sell my eciptical machine.
Thursday: go through one shelf in the cabinet. (These are big shelves with all my art and hobby supplies in them, quite a lot to go through!)
Friday: one more shelf
Saturday or sunday: move freezer and wardrobe out of the room.

There`s light in here! ;) I finally got a new lamp. And I didn`t even pay for it! we had some packages of floor boards that we didn`t need, we bought way too much. they had been lying in the hall for months making the hall look ugly, and the receit said if we wanted to return them it had to be done within 30 days. After about 6 months, I figured there was no chance. But we decided to try after all yesterday, and they accepted them back, and we used the money we got back to get a nice lamp. Yay!
Also, my bf is organizing the tons of paper and stuff he has in a drawer in here at the moment. Which means the place looks awful, since he didn`t finish and his stuff is now all over the floor. But hopefully he will finish today, which means there will be more room in his drawers to put all his stuff, instead of having it lying all around the room.

I`m doing some serious work on my bookshelves today! I`m clearing out all of the stuff we`re storing there that should be thrown out or stored in the basement or something. Like piles of old receipt, old phonebooks. notes from classes we took 10 years ago…
I`ve also taken out some books that are just depressing and not giving me good vibes. And replaced them with books that does make me feel good, like journalism books and sheetmusic. Yay! Feeling better already! There is still a lot of work to be done here, but baby steps count. :)

I`ve taken some more stuff down to the basement storage room to get it out of here. And made plans to move some furniture out to the hall (I just have to move some stuff out of there first…) and the storage room (same problem).
I`ve started organizing the books in my shelves here. I`d like to have only books that are useful, like dictionaries and journalism books, and books that I want to read or have read and really like in here. And remove all the ones that I never plan to read or didn`t like but store here just because I can`t make myself get rid of books. I found yesterday that I have 10 norwegian-english dictionaries in here. Maybe I don`t need absolutely all of those. ;)

1. a lamp, because it`s very dark in this room at night and it`s giving me a headache.
2. a nice houseplant to give it a cosier feel
3. some venetian blinds or something, because the low winter sun is right in my face all day now when I`m in here nowm also not good for headaches.
4. a new desk.
   (That`s not urgent though, I have one, it`s justnot very nice looking and too small).

I got some more stuff moved down to the basement storage room today. My home office still doesn`t look that nice and inviting, but it now at least looks decently tidy, for the most part. Will do some work on my bookshelves tomorrow. That is, pick out books I never read or that I don`t like much and put them down in the basement. To make room for books that give me positive vibes because I like them or want to read them, study or freelance writing related books and maybe some nice things to make the shelves look nicer.

in the right direction. I`ve tidied up my computer desk, which was full of old bills and leaflets and notes and whatnots. Now it`s nice and clean and tidy. I`ve decided my desk is going to be my “shining sink” in this room.

I`ve focused on clearing out the storage room, to make room to take the extra fridge out of the homeoffice and put it in there. Hopefully we`ll move it this weekend. That in itself will make the room a little nicer I think! ;) Maybe I should go buy the paint for the shelves this weekend to.. I might just do that!
