I am SUPER organized, and really anal-retentive about things, a bit OCD, so you’d think my room, where i live, would be the eptiome of cleanliness, right? WRONG. Most days it look like hurricane Katrina hit (knock on wood)...i AM really organized, but if i take something out of its totally categorized place, i dont put it back, and my beautiful glass desk almost always has SHIT on it…well, figuratively speaking…

I went from a teensy apartment to finally a big enough space I could actually call my own. Since then, I cannot stand a messy place. And what’s weird is that I feel a million times better too. I wake up and am not overwhelmed with the clutter and mess. When I clean up right after a meal, I go to sleep with a free mind. It’s less hassle to do when you do it in little pieces.. slacking really ends up biting you in the rear.. and killing an otherwise useful Saturday date night.

Well this one only normally last for a few days, I am tidy for a while then it just goes back to the normal messy house!, but then again with 3 children under 5 and a Hubby home all day, how is it supposed to stay tidy??

Yesterday I got an email from my cousin asking if he could stay at our flat while visiting the upcoming Edinburgh Festival. He should be arriving in a few weeks and.. his mom happens to be a cleaning freak. So what?
I’m not.. but I do like to present a tidy house to any visitors that should come knocking on my door. I guess that’s what they call being “house proud”? Dunno.. anyway I plan to now really clean the house .. go through each room and just get it sorted for once.
.. and hopefully we can keep it that way too :)

I managed to clean our computer room on Friday. It was something I had meant to do for a long time but never got round doing.
So I just started tidying up and before I knew it most areas were sorted and clean.
Now I still need to sort out the book case..
Then moving on to next rooms. There’s SO much to do. My husband and I are both fairly messy and lazy, which is a bit of a problem. I imagine if everything could be sorted for once – we could try to maintain it.
...to achieve this:
1. Tidy up
2. Keep things tidy for a week
3. Keep things tidy for a month
When all three of these have been achieved, I can say that I have achieved this goal. If I get messy again, I will reinstate the subgoals but not the overall ‘be tidier’ goal.
This year, in the school I’ve got so much more study… And this means there’s a lot to study in the home too… And i clean and tidy my room at least 15 mins a day, before i start to study… And it makes me so much more motivated about studying, and i can find any book or note book i look…and it helped me about feeling simplified…! A tidy room or a messy room means big differences about feeling active, alive and energetic!
P.S: Oh, how could i forget, it makes you have a happier mother too=)
I’m getting better at this, I’ve started not leaving paper lying around – which is a big help!
I’ve made so much progress in this area without even really trying. I’ve adopted the habit of washing the dishes first thing in the morning and it’s a good way to do it. I somehow get started for the day, our home looks tidier when I actually mentally wake up. And I don’t need to worry about the stupid dishes all day.
