Part 5 - Prince in America 3 years ago

Was 80’s pop icon Prince a fan of America? I will let you be the judge.

    Evidence 1
America had the hit ‘A Horse with No Name’

    Prince Connection 1
For a part of his career Prince had no name (he went by that symbol, remember?). He was also known as The Artist; was this a subtle attempt to get his CD’s grouped in the ‘A’ section of the record store near the band America? Additionally some have suggested that America used horse as a reference to heroin. Prince also did this in ‘Sign of the Times’ lyrics:
In September my cousin tried reefer 4 the very first time
Now he’s doing horse, it’s June

    Evidence 2
The band America derived its name from the United States of America which was founded following the American Revolution

    Prince Connection 2
The band Prince performed with was called The Revolution

    Evidence 3
America’s song ‘Sister Golden Hair’ has the following lyrics:
Well, I keep on thinkin’ bout you, sister golden hair surprise
And I just can’t live without you; can’t you see it in my eyes?
I been one poor correspondent, and I been too, too hard to find
But it doesn’t mean you ain’t been on my mind

    Prince Connection 3
Recently some lost notebooks of early Prince lyrics included the following startling passage:
Well, eye keep on thinking; bout U; can’t U C it in my I’s?
Eye been 1 poor correspondent, and eye been 2, 2 hard 2 find
But it doesn’t mean U ain’t been on my mind

    Evidence 4
America’s song ‘Ventura Highway’ has the following lyrics:
    Wishin’ on a falling star
    Waitin’ for the early train
Sorry boy, but I’ve been hit by purple rain

    Prince Connection 4
Purple Rain, are you kidding? Case closed !!!

Part 4 - Toto, We are Not in Kansas Anymore. 3 years ago

    (from Tin Man)
    Lyrics:
Sometimes late when things are real
And people share the gift of gab between themselves
Some are quick to take the bait
And catch the perfect prize that waits among the shelves

But Oz never did give nothing to the Tin Man
That he didn’t, didn’t already have
And cause never was the reason for the evening
Or the Tropic of Sir Galahad.

    So please believe in me
When I say I’m spinning round, round, round, round
    Smoke glass stain bright color
Image going down, down, down, down
    Soapsuds green like bubbles

    Questions:
    1. What’s the perfect prize on the shelf?
    2. What did the Tin Man already have and isn’t that a great line?
    3. Where or What is the Tropic of Sir Galahad?
    4. Some consider the “Sir Galahad” line to be one of the worst in all of rock history…what’s your vote?
    5. Is the line “Soapsuds green like bubbles” even worse?
    6. Does “bubbles” really rhyme with “colors” and how would you re-write the last line to make it better?
    7. Who is the best band: Toto, Kansas or America?

Part 3 - Muskrat Porn...I mean Love 3 years ago

    Lyrics:
Nibbling on bacon, chewin’ on cheese
Sammy says to Susie honey, would you please be my missus?
    And she says yes
    With her kisses

And now he’s ticklin’ her fancy
    Rubbin’ her toes
Muzzle to muzzle, now anything goes
As they wriggle, and Sue starts to giggle

    Questions:
    1. Is this passage PG-13, R, NC-17 or back room of the video store XXX ?
    2. Who is hornier: Sammy or a frat-boy popping Viagra?
    3. Bacon or Cheese, what’s your preference?

Part 2 - Random Guy in Ventura (Highway that is) 3 years ago

Aw, come on, Joe, you can always
    Change your name
Thanks a lot, son, just the same

    Questions:
    1. Who is Joe?
    2. Why does he need to change his name?
    3. Have you ever driven the Ventura Highway?

Part 1 - The Horse Needs a Name 3 years ago

    Lyrics:
I’ve been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
cause there aint no one for to give you no pain

    Questions:
    1. Why the heck does the horse have no name?
    2. If you went through the desert on this horse what name would you give it?
