I never realized how “unavailable” I was to those closest to me in my life. I seem to have “adopted” this behavior from my parents who were emotionally unavailable. This has materialized into my adult life and, as with other behaviors, I was unaware of it or thought it was “normal”. On the flip side of this, I was seeking those same types of persons in romantic relationships. I’m grateful to be aware of this behavior.
