My cousin rented the Friends Center to have the memorial service.
We have an outline of what is going to happen at the service.
Since my aunt was a staunch atheist, we did not want to have a religious officiant. At the same time, we needed someone to hold the space for the gathering. I hired Denise Maroney Freed (you can see where she’s coming from, from this essay, here: http://www.betalef.org/teachings_chaplain.html) to do this service for us. She has been a hospital chaplain for a long time, and should be able to deal with these issues pretty well.
My cousin-in-law hired two women to help with food set-up and clean-up.
My daughters have a performance that same afternoon, but The Show Must Go On. I will hire a taxi service to come immediately after the performance and take them to the Friends Center so they will be able to participate in the service.
I am hoping this will all go OK. 7 years ago
