Our daughter, my aunt 2 years ago

Our daughter went to work tonight, but she was told to go home early because she was just not concentrating very well on her work. She’s just too distracted by the thought that her brother-in-law is dying.
So she comes home and she’s not in real good shape. We do a group hug in the kitchen amidst the makings of dinner and cookie baking . . .
After things are settled down a bit and dinner’s been eaten, my most favorite aunt calls here. Our daughter’s the one who answers the phone and instantly feels uplifted by my aunt’s warm, comforting, caring, loving Oklahoman drawl.
They talk for quite a while, going from immediate concern for how our daughter’s doing to lighter chat to more prayerful talk.
Just exactly what our daughter needed to make her feel better, including the good cry she had.
To know my aunt is to love her . . . she teaches a Sunday School class for the super elderly (over90) that has grown from about 5 folks to around 25. And they look to her as their spiritual caregiver and boy does she hear from them. Terrific!
Anyway, the whole point of this is that if she hadn’t been sent home from work early, she wouldn’t have been home to get exactly the right call from the right person at the right time to help her cope with what’s going on.
God makes things work together for good things to happen so we’ll have the daily bread we need.

A series of miracles 2 years ago

If you look at my list of goals, you’ll see one there for overcoming the immediate financial crisis.
To help do that, my wife went online and put out a prayer request to the prayer warriors she knows, and people responded.
In being able to make our house payment today and have less than a dollar in coin change left over, the response of her prayer warrior friends gave us just what we needed for November and December.
I would have had $1 more, but I gave in to the temptation of a lottery ticket, not yet realizing just how close our funds were to what we needed. Fortunately I had $1.60 in pop cans and bottles in the trunk.
God provides our daily bread and has given us just what we needed when we needed it.

    Maybe . . . 2 years ago

things have just been too stressful to take note if or when this has happened . . . yet I seem to recall faintly that something happened this last week. Well, I guess I didn’t fully notice that, did I?

library... tv... SYNCHRONICITY! 2 years ago

Today I went to the library,
just looking at books.. and came across “An Unquiet Mind” by Kay Redfield Jamison.. a woman’s memoir of her manic depression.

Then two hours later, I turn on the tv and Oprah is showing the book right on the screen and talking to the author. It’s not even a new book or anything, it’s from 1995!

I had no intention on getting that book, I just came across it! VERY WEIRD.
