finish my disertation proposal

i went to library this monday only to discover it is closed. so i’ve decided to start with available papers, and catch on later with protected ones.

my geneaology research was worth it: now i’m proficient web surfer! i only translated those skills to this area.
i discovered that my chosen area is old as i, so there is plenty of material to explore. now i’m at ‘70.

luckily, there was 20 years gap in the field due to insufficient processing power of those days computers (e.g. people were 20 years ahead of technology), so there are only 3 decades of work to explore, ‘70., ‘90. and this decade!

i feel like a small boat on big ocean, with big wawes, winds etc. it is all great, fun and exciting; but i need to go forward!

In this book on page 67:
(chapter by Derek May):

1. “Becoming familiar with the resources and courses available to help you at the institution where you are studying.
2. Identifying and formulating your project precisely and clearly in terms of purposes, issues and questions to be adressed.
3. Identifying through bibliographic search and other means material for review chapters (including methodological reviews) and writing these chapters. In some cases this will lead to statement of formal hypoteses.
4. Deciding upon research design and designing research instruments for the study. This will include arranging and carrying out pre-pilot and pilot work for the maing part of your study.

Yay! Research proposal is not mentioned, but i plan to do it after stage 4.

thanks to my best year yet goal i rearanged my priorities for 2009. result of that is that i dare to face this goal!! YES!
day after that big decision, i had an important discussion with my colegue that encouredged me to pursue this dream.

i am defining my field, it is still huge, but it is one step forward!

i decided to print the papers instead reading on the screen so i can carry them with myself (that reminds me = i need e-ink reader)

(my paperless goal goes to back burner LOL!)

1. my ideas weren’t weird!! it feels so good!
2. someone lives my dream = it is possible!!

e.g. permition to download it. and lots of documentation to read. so my vacations are over. presentation to do in a month.

So I need to learn more and go deeper into the subject.
I spent 2 months working on this and put aside all other goals. Now I want to get out of emergency mode and find nice and steady place for my PhD in my life. To do something every day but not go crazy about it and neglect all other things.

i dedicated most of my sane time to this; last 5 weeks (and most of my insane time to freaking out over this and doing nothing…)
i want to use my time more productive instead of burn-down-freak-out cycles
oh man, i forgot how i poorely handle (read: hate) timelines…

that’s why i was absent from 43T.
and i need asap to finish second half.
start adding new material and concentrate on what i already have.

it should be 15 pages – 7 days 2 a day and rest for corrections.
i told myself this morning, this is doable! OMG!

i’ve found my field :-) !
now i can go forward – wow!
